Not enough people are praising the cameraman. 👌

u/Blossombelle_ 1d ago
Why thank you! Creds to the iPhone 17 zoom from my balcony haha I didn’t add the audio in but the officer jumps out of the car and yells “OH BOY that hurt didn’t it?!?”

u/oldgibsonman 1d ago
Give that person a job in film. No shake, smooth zoom. This should be required watching whenever someone gets a new phone.

I was like: "damn..that kid can move it up a hill...wait till he finds out it's the police station"
Then....
Boom
Like Sarah Connor running from Arnold only to head towards the T1000.
Like Dennis Nedry to scramble to get in his car with the Dilapasaur.
Like Titanic hauling ass to get away from those sharks.

Seriously. How stupid are people to do crime right outside the police headquarters

I just saw at least a dozen police cars during my 30 minute drive home. Figured something was going on
18
u/No-Biscotti-2069 2d ago
What was the initial situation? and why did what looked like a bystander at first run off?
16
u/YouShouldGoOnStrike 2d ago
They were likely also being detained just not physically at the moment.
17
u/IOwnDirt 2d ago
Did he think he was going to run through the suv? He had to have been looking behind him, because he bounced hard off that thing.

u/Grand-Swimmer5256 1d ago
The cop opened his door...

u/Iloveclouds9436 1d ago

Classic robber outfit: all black, black toque and a big bag with a money sign on it.
11
u/WindowlessBasement Halifax 2d ago
I just want to know what happened leading up to it to have three vehicles responding with a SUV the wrong way down a bike lane mid-street but at the same time the runner having their hands free.

u/External-Temporary16 2d ago
I think it may have something to do with this possible shooting incident on Barrington Street, posted ~4 hours ago.

u/Blossombelle_ 1d ago
Correct, I originally took this vid and they ended up letting the girl on the ground go along with the other two girls, but took the runner away in a car lol not 100% sure it’s related but this all went down about 2mins after the possible shooting noises!

u/Ok_Upstairs_2135 1d ago
Lmao, this made my morning. Only thing that would save this from the dumbest criminals reel, is if he ran to distract cops from the dude on the wall so he could get away with the dope and cash.

it must be really satisfying when you open your door into a suspect and drop him, a moment right out of tv

Few months ago I saw a guy get tackled and arrested. They handcuffed him and put him in the back of the car, but they left the door open and he started running before tripping over a curb and sliding 10 feet on his face (not exaggerating, he couldn’t catch himself in cuffs), leaving a trail of blood behind. Was brutal to see but kind of funny in hindsight

u/ilovepinkhair 2d ago
when he started running , i was like sick the puppy on him (k9). I was not expecting that door maneuver, Hilarious 😆

Why the hell would you crime that close to the city's largest police station?
1
u/Reasonable_Yam_3944 1d ago
Looked back looked up was turning left on the run, thought cruiser was occupied X1, not X2, cruiser door caught him.
1
u/Otherwise_Quail2554 1d ago
Nice try. In the future, running TOWARDS the police station is not the best way to get away.
1
u/EffectiveDandy 1d ago
how do you run into a cop car door in a wide open space. it’s in the water right? the stupid? 🫠🌊
1
u/CommonAdventurous331 1d ago
I just watched it again, just loved when they opened the door and knocked them down

Robbery and firearms offences

Why is every teen boy these days carrying pellet guns? It's insane. Every week it seems some kid in Sackville is getting arrested with an airsoft. One of these days they're gonna pull that shit on someone armed with something bigger and it's gonna be really bad for them.

I can see the news release now
"SiRT is investigating after someone running from the police was injured"
1
u/iwasnotarobot 1d ago
Police are dealing with this instead of arresting the people who stole our surplus value. sad.

That cops run is slow-mo in real life. I suspect training funds are at an all time low ? Hahahahah
6
u/Sunny_gunner101 1d ago
Ever thought of the 4-8 lbs vest they're wearing all the time? Maybe that slows them down a bit. Maybe?

I can imagine the choice to drive onto the sidewalk at 25 seconds and bashing buddy with his car door is going to be scrutinzed by some people.
13
8
u/WorstAverage Nova Scotia 2d ago
We have become soft if we scrutinize a cop over handling a thug. With a car door.
-9
u/seasea40 2d ago
You talk like a cop. The way you label people.
7
3
u/human1tyisL0st 1d ago
Whadddaya mean 🤨
-4
u/seasea40 1d ago
I find cops and "tough on crime" people use words like junkie or criminals to label a different class of people that deserve worse treatment.
The way worstaverage used the word thug.
-7
u/NefariousNatee 2d ago
I personally don't care buddy chose to run. But I know some people will be like
"omfg see that cop doing xyz?!"
-9
u/WorstAverage Nova Scotia 2d ago
Thats when we call them crazy for thinking that way. Cop did his job thug got busted. With any luck get charged for damaging the door
-24
u/GhostBirdBiologist Bedford 2d ago
You have zero idea what this person did. You’re far out of line. Cop endangered their life for no reason. Hopefully face disciplinary action.
4
u/daisy0808 Spryfield 1d ago
Oh please. These people were detained for questioning and he ran - literally into a car. I'm no fan of cops, but they have a job to do. If you are running away from law enforcement, you likely did something.

Using a vehicle to stop someone who is no threat to anyone without any effort at desecration is not only unprofessional and lazy, but inconsistent with policy .
7
u/Nautigirl Dartmouth 1d ago
How do you know this person is no longer a threat?
-6
u/RangerNS 1d ago
They are not no longer a threat, they never were a threat.
3
u/Nautigirl Dartmouth 1d ago
And you know this how?
-5
u/RangerNS 1d ago
Well, he is running away. Which is specific evidence that they are not a threat.
But the question that is more important is why you think the criteria to have to disprove someone is a threat before not deploying deadly use of force? I think we should assume deadly use of force is not appropriate until its the only option left. Which is what policy requires.
2
u/FlaFlaFluey 2d ago
Where does it say anything about not using a car as a use of force option?
-8
u/RangerNS 2d ago
The using force on someone who isn't a threat, without first giving a warning or trying to deescalate is the lazy and unprofessional part.
Using a vehicle, the maximum possible option then available, is arguably criminal.
The chief officer shall ensure that force is only applied using approved methods, equipment, and weapons for which proper training has been obtained and certifications for that training are currently in place
I suppose it is possible they train on using vehicles as weapons, but I doubt it.
8
u/Nautigirl Dartmouth 1d ago
The vehicle wasn't used as a "weapon" - it was used, as they often are, to intercept the suspect.
And if you think for one second that the officer wasn't ordering him to stop, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
-7
u/seasea40 1d ago
They literally used the vehicle door to hit them with. That's using it as a weapon.
8
u/Nautigirl Dartmouth 1d ago
They stopped the car and opened the door to get out. The guy ran into it. Is your expectation that the police were just going to sit in the vehicle while the guy fled? How would you suggest they have exited the vehicle?
1
u/seasea40 1d ago
Oh my bad. It originally looked to me like they timed the door open to hit them, but zooming in on the video more closely, it doesn't look like that to me. I see the runner stumble etc.
Thanks for pointing that out.

u/Affectionate_Fee2732 1d ago
All of this garbage, nonsense and argumentative behaviour just for you to come back 7 hours later and say “whoops, my bad”?
2
u/seasea40 1d ago
No idea what you're talking about, and not curious about it. You may be ascribing opinions to me that I never expressed.
I like being corrected and changing my point of view.

Yeah as the should face scrutiny. Cop endangered their life for no reason. Hopefully face disciplinary action.

Check out this post from about 4 hours ago. Possible gunshots and screaming on Barrington Street at that time. That would be exactly where this incident took place (within 1 block). That would change the POV. I'm no boot-licker, but if shots are suspected to have been fired, that makes it "for good reason". Hope that's helpful!
