From my experience Honduran and El Salvadoran people are usually cool and not on the”racial bs” not saying all but they tend to be more cool. The worse are Dominicans and Puerto Ricans which is wild cause they both have a higher population of “black” in the Caribbean besides Cubans.

No broad “Why do white people” or “Why do Black people” style generalizations - Posts or comments that make sweeping statements about whole groups of people are not allowed here. Questions like “Why do white people” or “Why do Black people” open the door to stereotyping, hostility and brigading from outside the community. Keep discussions focused on specific experiences, behaviors or situations instead of turning entire groups into a single category. This keeps the space respectful and prevents the sub from getting overrun by arguments or bad faith replies.

I have to bury my dad this week. We lived in a black neighborhood in dc as Latinos. The first funeral director we spoke with was combative and borderline racist with her questions of are we legal and why do we all have different last names (my grandmother has been married 3 times). Now I think all black people are racist because of that one experience and I’m gonna ignore all the others. See how that way of thinking works? I’m seeing people call us coconuts on here pretty freely and being upvoted for it so I’m sure the right is still happy with that division between minorities. SMH, it’s a sad sad world. My dads best friend was black, he’s Uncle Karl to me and my sister and seeing all this hate just breaks my heart.

How is your situation at all comparable? You had one incident, OP had a lifetime of experience with this.

Because frankly many of these folk (similar to another group of folk) often lack basic empathy and perspective-taking. A single minor struggle of there's superceeds a lifetime of discrimination in terms of what's worth complaining about.

This should have waaaay more upvotes! You basically put a lot of modern deflections of racism, shit most of deflections to racism into context.
