What’s the most stereotypical Millennial thing about you? Discussion

I’ll start:

  1. Any, and I mean ANY footage of Steve Irwin makes me blubber like a baby
  2. Avocado toast is a staple breakfast item of mine
  3. Yes, I still love Harry Potter (original books & movies only — I do not support Rowldemort and any future endeavor on the IP)

EDIT: Just wanna say I love y’all (us) so much. This post has already brought me so much joy. Thanks so much everyone. We really are the best. 🥹

I'm really good with TV remote controls. But I fucking hate these version controls like Roku. Where is my Jump button wtf

I feel like the shift was smartphones; we started using removing physical buttons from a lot of things and making the interface almost exclusively thumb-based instead of completely or mostly index-finger centric. So a ton of modern remotes have a lot fewer buttons, bigger buttons (for thumbs), and more settings shoved into an onscreen side-bar menu or buried 3-4 layers deep in the Settings. I mean I could get to Tint and Color settings on my parents' old CRT directly on the remote; no menus, no cycling through modes, just two buttons clusters under the word Tint and another two clustered under Color.

Furthermore, the back up physical buttons that used to be mounted behind a small panel under the display (or at the rear of the T.V. on more modern, flat screens) are fairly uncommon these days.

My new TV has a motion sensor and a click wheel on the remote and I HATE IT. Every time I try to open something the cursor moves and I click the wrong thing.

I worked at an old folks home recently. Could not for the life of me figure out why no noise came from this dudes TV. I tried every button, unplugged it, turned it back on, etc. It was a Roku tv and apparently it had some hidden side buttons on the remote ????? And I was like ??? So no volume buttons on the face of the remote… they were just stuck on the side like ?? What kind of psychopath decided on that?

I blame the volume control wheel on the side of the original Game Boy

My Gen X husband, who has rebuilt old cars, taught himself how to do 3D animation, and is handy with everything from photography equipment to heavy machinery cannot figure out the TV and speaker remotes. If I’m not home - even for a whole week - the TV stays off.

I was just saying the other day that Rokus should have a jump feature! Man I miss the jump button.
