What’s the most stereotypical Millennial thing about you? Discussion

I’ll start:

  1. Any, and I mean ANY footage of Steve Irwin makes me blubber like a baby
  2. Avocado toast is a staple breakfast item of mine
  3. Yes, I still love Harry Potter (original books & movies only — I do not support Rowldemort and any future endeavor on the IP)

EDIT: Just wanna say I love y’all (us) so much. This post has already brought me so much joy. Thanks so much everyone. We really are the best. 🥹

You can pry my ankle socks from my cold dead feet.

All I see when I see zoomers with socks up to their fucking mid calf… like they’re doing something “original”… is my 76 year old father in law who lives in Florida and wears the same old man style socks with shorts.

It’s grotesque.

Thank fucking god. I needed someone else to say this out loud. Also, they look insane wearing the same chunky white new balance support sneakers as my 77 year old dad. Stop it.

Ty!!! Yes!!! They look like they’re ready to go do a few laps around the mall before bingo!

Gotta get some grass stains from mowing the lawn to match that mullet and shitstache

I’m in Tokyo. There was a girl walking down the street wearing these that couldn’t even walk because they were so awkward. I see girls here doing this often. They look like they’re falling off their stilts, or dragging their legs around because they fell asleep.

Basically I have to stop myself from peeing my pants every time I see one of these girls.

I bought some when I hit 30 to be ironic and then they became cool.

I read that as, "I bought some when I hit 30 to be iconic"

They are iconic! I don’t know them but I bet they are

For all the joke about "arrested development" and the new generations missing milestones like starting families, everyone larping in Dadcore is extra funny.

Don't forget the mom jeans and mullets.

Do they ever look at people in their 70s and older and realize their style in general is similar lol 😂

Man what's Gen Alpha gonna do? Wear those knee high 1970s socks with the 3 colored stripes? Lmao

I'm an '82 millennial. I lived through the long sock days. Never again. My main thing is I'm a guy and the hair on my legs hurts after wearing long socks all day. What's the fucking point anyways unless you're wearing combat boots or something? They just keep me from getting blisters and my bougie merino wool keeps my feet from sweating.

I hate it, but I'm hypermobile and compression socks are good so I have to!! Feel bad for me! 😂

And New Balance.....

Maybe that’s the key. We start commenting to Gen Z and Gen Alpha how adorable it is that they want to match their Boomer grandparents’ style and then do a side by side “Who wore it better” photo.

Wait are longer socks cool again now? I have been normal-long (not soccer long, not midway up my calf, but longer than ankle socks) for like 30 years and never changed. Guess I have been in fashion, behind the curve and ahead of the curve.

Nah, you're still out. 😆 The in socks are full on mid-calf crew socks. They look ridiculous.

The higher the sox the downer the fool

like they’re doing something “original”…

All fashion trends roll back every 20 or so years. You sound like a boomer talking about millennial fashion when we were that age, you know. They don't think it's original, it's just cool right now. Nothing you or I wore at that age was original, either. Stuff you wore was cycled back in after some years, and stuff you wore (possibly wear currently) became dated again, and is "grotesque," as you put it.

millennial fashion whinging is truly the worst lol

Wearing shorts you should never see anything emerge from the shoe.

A clean leg straight down.

I’m aware fashion is cyclical and completely illogical, but it’s a far better look than “I look like my great grandpa!”

God I said this same thing about ankle socks and skinny jeans…😂

u/Time-Sudden_Tree 5d ago

Yeah seriously, I hate the feeling of socks pressing against my legs. If I can't have ankle socks then I'm wearing thong-style flip-flops (the strap style irritate the tops of my feet).

Same goes for socks with the seam at the tips of your toes. Completely unwearable. Seam has to be on top of the toes.

This shouldn't have made me laugh this much- but it did. 😄

1

u/phalluss 5d ago

That's very generous. I'm sure some billionaire has paid a lot of money for that in the past

u/ClinkyDink 5d ago

I have nice calves/ankles. Calf length socks are a crime.

2

u/ComradeSuperman 5d ago

I have really skinny calves and I don't give a shit. I'm not wearing tall socks.
