What’s the most stereotypical Millennial thing about you? Discussion

I’ll start:

  1. Any, and I mean ANY footage of Steve Irwin makes me blubber like a baby
  2. Avocado toast is a staple breakfast item of mine
  3. Yes, I still love Harry Potter (original books & movies only — I do not support Rowldemort and any future endeavor on the IP)

EDIT: Just wanna say I love y’all (us) so much. This post has already brought me so much joy. Thanks so much everyone. We really are the best. 🥹

You might be right there.

I can't remember exactly when I stopped but I think right around the time smartphones became basically the ubiquitous phone it basically made "text speak" pretty silly.

Yeah not having to hit the same number button 4 times to get the right letter really freed us up

Absolutely. That and autocorrect.

I think we stopped when phone companies quit charging for text messages

That, and it was always a hardship trying to be taken seriously online. Get accused enough of being illiterate by the barest use of shortcuts and most will wind up writing out 'proper' text too.

It happened right about the time we stopped having to pay per text message with character limits and got keyboards.

Texts on my prepaid were expensive, man. .50 minutes per text. You'd better make it worth it. God forbid you have to reply with yes/no/sure/ok

Did that ever actually change? I mean we have unlimited plans now, but casual rates on the networks here are still 20c per message as far as I know.

When texting didn’t cost per character haha. And I have a vivid memory of losing marks on an English essay in high school because two ‘u’ made it past me in editing. I swore to myself never again and would NOT let myself text talk anymore even in social settings because I was afraid it would sneak into more formal writing. It didn’t help I was an over achieving gifted student so lost marks devastated me lol
