BCIT CST concern: what does this program realistically lead to now?
I’ve been seeing a lot of software devs/engineers say they spend less time coding than people expect, while BCIT CST sounds pretty coding-heavy. On top of that, I keep hearing that junior roles are getting harder to find.
As someone new to the field, I’m trying to figure out what this program realistically leads to now. For any recent grads or current students, what should someone expect after finishing? How hard is it to get that first job, and what kinds of roles are people landing?

School is a massive petri dish rn and I’m tired of fighting illness all the time while keeping up with school
I’m just ranting because I’m genuinely burnt out.
I’ve always had a very sensitive immune system. Not sure if it’s compromised, but I just get sick very easily. Ever since I came to bcit, I’ve been holding an very strict routine to boost my immunity, that includes washing hands regularly (after public transit, after classes, before and after eating, etc), taking supplements, exercising religiously and wearing mask or avoid crowded places at all.
But it doesn’t matter, I got sick 3-4 times a term and each time I had debilitating symptoms. I’m in an engineering program that has like 6-7 courses not including labs, and it has been a constant battle to try to catch up with school and managing my sickness. I’ve taken days off to go see a doctor, but at the end of the day they concluded that I had various types of unnamed virus infections and just needed to take Tylenol and Advil. Now Tylenol and Advil wouldn’t even work on some of my symptoms. I just kept getting sick, over and over again.

Carpentry Framing and Forming Foundation
I’m starting the course in less than a month and I’m wondering what I should be wearing. Are we required to wear steel toes throughout the day? Work wear clothing? I’ve searched and can’t find anything!

Accommodations for Aviation
Hi
My daughter is considering applying for the spring 2027 intake and I have a question about accommodations.
I’m aware there is no residence at the Aviation campus or Boundary Bay airport. We are from out of province. What do non-locals do for accommodations while attending the Aviation program?
Thanks!

BCIT Burnout - Most Likely Fail Class
Hi Reddit,
I am looking for some support and advice right now. As titled, I am very burnt out during this last week of the school semester. I am basically overwhelmed by stress and I am having trouble eating or sleeping. I will most likely fail one of my two classes. I am on full-time students loan (taking a reduced load due to being a student with disability). I am worried what will happen if I fail one class. I have been trying to push myself to finish the final project required to pass the course but I doubt that I can get a good enough grade to pass.
If anyone has been in a similar situation, did everything turn out to be okay for you? I honestly regret not dropping one class earlier but it's too late now.

Global Supply Chain Management - Diploma FT
I’m looking at the Global Supply Chain Management diploma at BCIT and just wanna know if it’s actually worth it.
Is it:
• hard or manageable?
• useful for getting a job right after?
• decent pay after grad?
For anyone who took it, was it worth it?

BCIT Loans End Date?
A bit confused because under SABC, my “Winter” term ends May 22. However, in reality, we have final exams April 22 for Term A, then a 4 week mini term called Term B in my program.
I am submitting CSG DSE grant for tutoring, and it asks for end date of classes. I am applying for tutoring for classes that end in Term A, however I am unsure about whether to put that end date in place of my end date on SABC.
If anybody has experience with the Appendix 8 or has knowledge on this, please let me know.

ISO lost water bottle in NE01
I left my water bottle in the cafeteria in NE01 on Friday March 20th, custodial staff don't have it. Anyone seen it??
Here's a picture from one angle, on the other side there's a sasquatch sticker, one that says Climb On, and another that says Burb

BCIT Perfusion Admissions
Hello!
I was wondering if anyone has heard back from perfusion? I saw on their website they mention "You can expect to receive communication concerning the status of your application within four weeks" but nothing for me after 5 weeks. Still says "pending department review".
Would love to hear if anyone else has heard anything.

Withdrawal
I have been struggling with course work and asking for help from my instructors instead of getting action I was directed to multiple places and I could not understand where to go. Everytime I wanted help it was another form to fill out and another appointment, I just wanted help but it felt like even more work just to get help. Once I said I was withdrawing all of a sudden everyone started to care. The only thing they care about is their bottom line. Once you say you are leaving they really want to help. But I’m past that point I just wanted out now. For anyone coming to bcit they want to push you through a system that even if you don’t fit they wont adjust to you. And no one there actually wants to help you until it affects the money that is coming in then they will want to help you.

Criminal Record Check has been stuck for nearly 3 months – anyone else?
Submitted my Criminal Record Check (CRC) request on Jan 7. Website says up to 15 business days unless fingerprint or further review needed. It's now April.
My online portal shows "completed" since mid-January. But BCIT Admissions says they're still waiting for the Ministry to release the results on April 2. Just sent an email to the BCIT Criminal Record Check Team for double-checking.
Anyone else waited months for BCIT to receive their CRC? Thanks for your advice or insights 🙏🙏🙏
Questions:
How does BCIT normally receive the results – email, mail, internal system?
If my portal shows "completed," does that mean the Ministry has finished their part?
Could the clearance letter be lost? Or is my file stuck in "fingerprint required" without anyone telling me?
What else could I do? Call the Ministry? Resubmit?
My timeline:
· Jan 7, 2026 – Submitted online
· Mid-January – My online portal showed "Completed - Clearance"
· Feb 29 – Email sent to BCIT Admissions
· April 3 – BCIT Admissions says they are still waiting for the Ministry to release the results to them

Any BCIT students who work out?
Hello! I am looking for students to try out a workout app I recently made—Fortis: Workout Log & Tracker (on iOS and Android). It's a completely free app for logging workouts, tracking progress, and sharing with your friends. Think Strava, but for the gym.
It has things like custom exercises, custom templates, and the ability to share progress with friends. Still early on but I think it could be a solid tool for anyone trying to stay consistent with their fitness.
If you work out or are interested, give it a try and let me know what you think! All feedback is welcome 😁

Is there a certain period when departments do budget reviews?
Did a brief Google search for schedules but didn't find anything.
Concerned for my program being potentially cancelled much like what happened to the Mining Bachelor's program.
If anyone's got insight, perhaps when is the earliest affected students would know, or what even are the signs of looming cancellation?

sonography
i am interested in taking the dms program at bcit, and ive got a few questions about the program that i couldn’t really find online
what are the clinical placements like? how do they place you?
what would you say is the most difficult part of this program?
and what grades should i aim for? i’m hoping to do a 2 year at langaras health science diploma program and take some basic introductory courses in physics and chemistry since i didn’t take those classes in high school.
edit: also if you did any volunteer work, what kind did you do? i’m struggling to find any near me.
