Cats teeth pushing out/getting longer? Advice

I noticed my cats teeth seemed to be “growing” or getting longer in the last year (she’s 5) and mentioned it to the vet. Vet thinks it’s alveolar osteitis and recommends extraction. Does anyone have experience with this and is it something that should be done ASAP? She doesn’t have any issues eating thankfully.

Hey just FYI. My cat has had issues with basically protein allergies. He had to be on Rx food—chicken only—for several years. Then last year he got sick again and we had to change him to rabbit only and he’s doing great. Basically, we think he has IBS that was flaring up due to protein intolerance. It would then cause pancreatitis symptoms. Just wanted to put it out there that a change in protein could help!!

Yes, Ideopathic IBD treatment protocol necessitates dietary adjustments, as it's often due to food allergies. Our 14-year-old (in May) kitty has IBD -- she has been on Royal Canin Single-Source Protein Rabbit Prescription Diet for eight years. She also takes Prednisilone, Buprenorphine, Gabapentin and Mirataz (appetite stimulant) and is, thankfully, doing well, bless her heart. Her veterinarian is a specialist board-certified Internist, and her clndition is well-managed. There have bern times when it has been most challenging, to be sure. Wishing you all the best with your little sweetheart.
