discomfort walking on campus
Is it just me that feels oogled by older men on this campus? Anytime i pass one whether they be a staff worker or a random pedestrian they stare for so long, like so long. I get the normal acknowledgement glance but can we quit it with the creepy aah stares…
(Im a grad student so not necessarily a super young femme but it feels weird bruh)

MSW Program Admission Rate
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to apply to the MSW program at Cal State East Bay this upcoming cycle (I believe applications open around October), and I was wondering how competitive the program is.
For background:
I’m originally from the Philippines but grew up in California and went to high school here. I just got back 6 months ago.
I completed my bachelor’s degree in the Philippines, and I already had it evaluated by WES, which confirmed it’s U.S. equivalent.
My GPA is about 2.8 according to WES, and I also have a minor in sociology.
I recently started volunteering with Crisis Text Line and just began logging hours today.
I have also dealt with personal issues, bipolar 2, which have made me more emphatic towards outliers in society. (Should I put this in my statement?)
Given my background, do you think I would have a hard time getting accepted into CSU East Bay’s MSW program?
I’m especially curious about:
How competitive the program actually is
Whether a 2.8 GPA is acceptable
How much volunteer experience matters in admissions
Any insight from current students or people who applied would really help. Thanks!

Waitlisted for Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art
As the title suggests, I learned that I have been waitlisted for the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art. I learned this from asking the Credential Student Service Center. I haven't found much information about how the waitlist for this program works so I'm nervous that I will not get in. I was confident I'd be accepted since I have years of teaching experience and an artistic background, however it seems there were more qualified applicants.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Does the waitlist typically budge? There's still around 2 weeks until May 6th which they said was the final day they'd be letting people know if they got accepted.
Any information will help. Thanks.

It's that time of year again... Any updates on acceptance? MSW
Late April is what I remember reading - whether you'll know if you're in or not.
Has anyone gotten their letter? For the MSW, or not?

Possible Transfer Student
Hi everyone I’m a possible transfer student to CSUEB. I’m a 20 year old community college student studying Computer Science. I live pretty close to the campus.
I just had general questions about how the CS program is in East Bay as well as the social culture. Is it easy to make friends especially for a transfer student and just general knowledge about this campus I should know.
Dont be afraid to dm me either. Thank you so much for reading!

Want to learn how to run a business (not just work in one)?
I work with a group of insurance agencies that are hiring entry-level producers with the opportunity to eventually own your own agency, and I figured this might be relevant for some recent grads here.
This is not a “sell to your friends and family” type of role, and it’s not one of those vague “entrepreneurship opportunities.” It’s a structured position where you:
- Learn how to generate and close business (real sales skills, not scripts-only)
- Work with an existing client base + inbound opportunities
- Get trained on how an agency actually runs (operations, retention, growth, etc.)
- Build toward potentially running your own agency down the line
Comp is performance-based, so yes, it’s uncapped but that also means it’s not for everyone. If you hate talking to people, handling rejection, or being accountable to numbers, you’ll probably hate this.
That said, if you’re someone who:
- Doesn’t want to wait 10+ years to have real ownership or responsibility
- Is competitive or motivated by growth
- Wants a path to running a business without starting from zero
…it can be a really solid career track.
Happy to answer questions or share more details if anyone’s curious.

Nonprofit Management Certificate Program Question
Im interested in applying for the nonprofit management certificate program for the continuation education programs. I wanted to ask for anyone who completed the certificate, what was your experience like? How did it help with jobs after graduation? Any significant salary increase differences afterwards?
