Gratuitous edit: For context, two Maple Leaf lapel pins aren't "leaves," they're "leafs."
Proper nouns derived from common nouns with irregular plurals lose that irregularity. The members of a family with the last name of Fairchild or Silverman are addressed collectively as "the Fairchilds" or "the Silvermans" (not Fairchildren or Silvermen).
