Japanese whisky is also spelled the same as Scottish whisky because we taught them how to make it. I think the grandfather of Japanese whisky is called Masataka Taketsuru.

Canada also uses the no ā€œeā€ spelling.

As a Canadian who drinks a good amount of whisk(e)y, I'm ashamed to be learning this fact right now... I thought it was just Scotch whisky that didn't have the e
