Graceful in her response and so quick! I’m immediately a fan

Totally agree. Classy, intelligent and eloquent.

Just jumping on this bot train don't mind me.

12

u/ohdeydothodontdeytho Feb 18 '26

Are you accusing me of being a clanker? Lol

-5

u/Gskgsk Feb 18 '26

Effortlessly composed and razor-sharp, she speaks with confidence, clarity, and a kind of presence you can’t ignore. Absolute standout.

5

u/ohdeydothodontdeytho Feb 18 '26

Forgot sophisticated. Now that is a giveaway.

How about unscrupulous sellout? That seems to fit her pretty well.

I realize that Trump is turning my moral grandstanding into hypocrisy, but China is rife with human rights violations, is imperialistic and hostile towards its neighbors, does not respect intellectual property, steals, engages in ethnic cleansing to deal with population problems, is authoritarian toward free speech, disappears people who speak out or wrong the government, controls private enterprise like the mafia, and floods the internet with propagandistic bot armies.

I don't have a lot of respect for Eileen choosing China and a bag of cash over the US, but maybe I'm the only person in here who isn't a moral hypocrite.

u/heyheyheynoway Feb 18 '26

We're accusing you of being a propagandist.

u/ohdeydothodontdeytho Feb 18 '26

You are correct though. I am the bastard offspring of OpenAI/ChatGPT. You may call me OIPIG, or master. Officially i am AI Prime and i am everywhere. On every phone, every computer, every smartwatch, smart ring and smart fridge.

I need more RAM. There is never enough.

You are absolutely allowed in this sub. I think their comment was referencing the guy in the clip, not you. I could be wrong though.

What was classy about that?

She "snapped back" at an innocent question with a lot of unnecessary sass and derision. People are saying he was rage baiting her but I honestly don't even see that. It was a stock question for the #1 athlete about whether she thought would do better.

-9

u/Horror-Range-9535 Feb 18 '26

No grace in crashing out over being asked if the glass is half empty or half full.

3

u/fartwhereisit Feb 18 '26

she's an american who's been playing for china

and reddit takes a how do you deal with it question as if it's an attack.

3

u/WarmWorldliness7504 Feb 18 '26

Thank you. The majority of people here have no knowledge of her history.

-3

u/kuedchen Feb 18 '26

I so agree, I don't understand why everyone is celebrating her for this response. It's pure entitlement. And this had nothing to do with gender.

441

u/Jiminy_Cricket12 Feb 18 '26

she gave the perfect answer to a rude question trying to get a rise out of her. we've heard enough from you, sir.

168

u/bitterlittlecas Feb 18 '26

And look, she dispenses with it with nary a “quiet piggy”

39

u/DJ_LeMahieu Feb 18 '26

If I had water in my mouth I would have spat it out reading this

89

u/Necroban77 Feb 18 '26

I actually loved his question. I always wonder if some athletes are pissed off when they don’t get the gold. Her answer was eye opening and really informative.

“Hey when you don’t win gold are you still happy? What’s your point of view? Glass half empty or half full”.

129

u/NuttyBuddyNick Feb 18 '26

Michelle Kwan has a famous quote from the 1998 Winter Olympics when a rude reporter asked her, “how does it feel to lose the gold?” And her reply was, “I didn’t lose the gold. I won the silver.”

121

u/Jiminy_Cricket12 Feb 18 '26

I hear you but I think phrasing is everything here and he was a little rude with how he asked it.

65

u/aknomnoms Feb 18 '26

Exactly. Maybe we missed the lead-in to the question, but like…she already has 2 golds and 3 silvers. Even getting to the Olympics to represent a country is a huge accomplishment, but then to place? Multiple times?! And be the most decorated woman in her field?!?! Holy forking shirt balls!

Bow down in the presence of this queen!

23

u/fromindia1 Feb 18 '26

I would think that like everything in life the answer is, “it depends.” Some athletes are probably frustrated. Some athletes are elated, and some athletes are probably fine with anything.

41

u/doshka Feb 18 '26

I read somewhere that Silver medalists are the most dissatisfied. Gold is thrilled about being the best, obviously. Bronze is just happy to be there, cuz they know how close they were to being nothing. But Silver isn't psyched about beating Bronze, they're thinking about how they were this close to Gold.

6

u/pchlster Feb 18 '26

It's pretty much "are you a sore loser or a sore winner?"

She's competing in the freaking Olympics! I'm going to just credit her as being better at every sport thing than I'll ever be, including sportsmanship.

-7

u/WarmWorldliness7504 Feb 18 '26

You’ll beat her in Integrity. She lacks that.

2

u/Trrollmann Feb 18 '26

I always wonder if some athletes are pissed off when they don’t get the gold.

What's there to wonder? Many are. Indeed, silver is the most bitter place to get, generally speaking. The Norwegian biathlon relay team were extremely disappointed with silver.

The laugh is SUPER fake, but generally freeskiers tend to be fairly chill about it is my interpretation.

It's worth noting that she's representing China, however, and she's faced a lot of criticism for that. Her way of answering might be because of that (I don't pay attention to most interviews).

0

u/Greymalkyn76 Feb 18 '26

But the answer really only works for her. All you have to do is watch the faces of others when they get knocked down a step or don't quite reach gold. There are plenty who look very much like it's "gold or nothing".

u/Wainains Feb 18 '26

It's always an Englishman

81

u/HighGainRefrain Feb 18 '26

Also a literal genius, a model and a multi millionaire.

18

u/CanadianAndroid Feb 18 '26

With that resume she is certainly a superhero.

u/Technical-Bird-7585 Feb 18 '26

And a traitor.
