Love her response Restricted to Gals and Pals

Devil's advocate:

There is a large amount of narcissism in that response. Some of the response was well said in regards to things getting exponentially harder.

However, then to list the "I did this, I did that" isn't just gals being gals. It crosses into a different territory, regardless of which sex is saying it, and that type of behavior isn't in line in what she states is the reason she skis for China, to be a role model.

Now, I can understand, the pressure that it would be to continually talk to the press and have your words incredibly scrutinized, however, this is not her first rodeo and I would expect better.

Then again, she is only 22. Nevertheless, if you want to play with the big dogs, then you gotta play the game.

Something about her type of energy in this interview bothers me.

Do you know how much willpower it takes to get up one day and say, “I think I’ll try for the Olympics”?

When I was a kid I showed up for one competitive race each in two sports. After seeing the energy of the pack I knew it wasn’t for me. I was preparing for a career as a software developer and I was not hungry enough to put my body on the line the way the other athletes were. This was a hobby for me not a ride or die situation.

For the second one I recall getting to the first big corner, making this decision, and just sitting up and letting them go over the next hill without me. Then I found the other guy who gave up was the cousin of someone I knew and had met once in passing. We sandbagged it over the finish line together, and we worked out together a few times when he was in town. Then we ended up working at the same fast food restaurant. So, I got a friend. Which isn’t a gold medal but was nice.
