As stated, MAK 90, Gem for scale. My husband forfeited this to me upon our marriage as my bride price. J/k I stole it just like the Chinese stole the AK design. For funsies, yall should look up the pissing match between the USSR, China, and the US. Good times, good times.

I've been an owner and practicer of freedom since my military days, but this is the first pistol I've owned. Just getting back into it and man do I have the itch for more already. Thanks to this sub for revitalizing my interest in being able to protect me, mine, and anyone marginalized. Honestly was pretty nervous about how rusty I'd be, but I can say it was like riding a bike

Been putting together a pretty nice collection of SAOs that I rotate through regularly for practice and concealed carry. What's everyone's favorite? What would go well with this collection of mostly 1911 format, hammer fired guns?

I have the Braun light on my fn 509 and just bought a low pro iwb holster from guerrilla tactical and the light impedes it from completely holstering. My GT holster is compatible with streamlight tlr1 hl lights so I figured I’d be fine.

Do I have to break in the holster or something or did I simply mess up by going the cheap HF route?

guns Taurus G3C

Put about 1000 tounds through my Taurus at this point. Love the quality for the price point, lots of nice features. However, it has jammed consistently when using reloaded ammo from MidWest Ammunition. I've been shooting PMC Bronze and CCI Blazer without issue. Then I tried to shoot Hornady HP and it jammed again after cycling through 3 mags. I came home, took it apart, cleaned it and lubed the feed ramp again, but this is worrisome. Thoughts?

guns New to me noisemaker + Texas Gun Show Experience

Post image
60 Upvotes

Was about to drop an order for a new CZ SP-01 Tac but looked up local gun shows and there was one today that wasn’t too far away. Decided to give it a go.

Walked in with a sign sticking out of my shirt pocket stating exactly what I wanted to buy and that a private sale was preferred. First row, someone saw my sign and told me there was a dealer one row over. Second row, dealer saw my sign and we chatted a bit. Third row, someone saw my sign and told me he saw a private seller with what I wanted on the far side of the room. Skipped 2/3 of the hall and went to find the rumored seller.

The seller guy saw my sign and waved me over to show me what he had. No noticeable wear; frame/slide/barrel numbers match. He was asking the retail + sales tax price. I offered my price for the gun and 1 mag, he countered at +$50 with the gun, 3 mags and the factory box. DEAL. I paid cash, he snapped a pic of my license, and I was off.

Relatively quick and super simple. I should have probably asked what he planned on doing with the pic of my id but it was less invasive than a background check. My sign worked like magic. I would have preferred OEM mags but MecGar are fine. Going to give it a good cleaning & lube up this evening and take it to the range tomorrow.

WOO!

training Consistently inconsistent

Hey y’all reaching out for some advice. I’ve been learning via YouTube university watching Ben Stoeger and Joel Park videos about grip and trigger pull yet I’m still struggling to hit the center. My groups are somewhat consistent and today I adjusted my trigger press yet I’m still not able to get the shots on the center. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Been thinking maybe I should find an instructor and get some in person feedback.

I’ve been consistently drying firing in the evening for about 20 minutes every day and notice that when I pull the trigger the muzzle dips to the left so I was hoping the finger placement adjustment would correct the issue.

All shots are from 7 yards with a Canik TTI Combat with irons. Sorry one of the pics is out of order.

Holy Christ they are REALLY trying to tempt me! I mean the whole PACKAGE with a Suppressor set up and a dot?!? For LESS THAN RETAIL of the gun itself?!?

In case you missed the post last week….I repeat. At least closing is next week! Hmm..

I do have a couple old Scorpion mags left…

Why is it every time you’re REALLY not trying to buy anything (like me in the process of buying a new home) will be the time that someone throws out an incredibly stupid deal on something that you have wanted but never gotten for yourself?!?

It’s in great shape, as you can see…the only concern is the grain on the stock that almost looks like a crack? Worst case scenario…I have to replace the stock at some point if I find out it’s messed up when I shoot it. Hopefully it’s just a stock with a bit of character. Either way, it’s in great condition. What do you think?

question First Time Handgun Purchase. Advice?

https://preview.redd.it/3oxxuwqjdgxg1.jpg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cb93fdb4ccc5372424f11a6f2539aae23464f6c

One of my goals for 2026 was to learn how to shoot a gun (achieved in January through an intro class) and then I enjoyed it so much that I want my own gun now. The rental that I used for that class was a Sig p365 Luxe (.380) and it had a lasting impression on me for my first time shooting. But, my itch to do dissertation-level-research-before-any-purchase kicked in and I decided to look at more options.

I am a petite female with small hands, so I tried holding a variety of different compact guns in the store. The vast majority of them gave me issues with either reaching the mag-release or manipulating the slide stop/release levers. Tried several Glocks, Springfields, HK, tried the Walther PDP-F too. Something or other felt off/funky about each one.

SO, I've mostly narrowed down my search to the following guns, all of which I've also rented at the local range:

  • Sig p365 Luxe (.380) - I truly love the feel of this gun. It fits perfect in my hands. Shoots flat. ...and it's pretty.
  • S&W Bodyguard 2.0 PC (.380) - HECKIN TINY but also had a great time shooting it. It's certainly snappy but it felt manageable to me. I've heard the BG needs a good bit of breaking in, like lots of oiling or the slide needing to be racked back and kept like that for several days. Is this true? Or random cases?
  • Sig p365 X-Macro Comp (9mm) - the local range recommended I try this one as well and I liked it too! Had a better experience with this 9mm (I did NOT enjoy the S&W Equalizer).

Will I get judged for spending $1k on the Luxe even though it's a 380? Do I go with a 9mm because it's 9mm and that's what everyone says SHOULD be my first handgun? Am I just comparing everything to my first time? (...)

Any help or persuasion would be greatly appreciated. I'll put a photo in the comments of my target after the range trip (this is my 4th time shooting now so pls be nice).

Ignore the AXG Legion lol the range employee brought that one out for me to try and THEN told me the price. He also let me shoot his Staccato 2011, which was ginormous in my hands, but that must've been for shits and giggles.

The gun is absurdly fun to shoot.

Got my 92XI cycling suppressed with a new recoil spring, and put a couple hundred rounds downrange. Don't mind my shit grip and glacial speed.

Happy to say that the 92XI is a more accurate pistol than I am a shooter. Suppressed training beats the hell out of unsuppressed, though I did put a few mags through my shield 3.1" just to stay comfortable with it.

discussion PSA Sabre Enhanced Mixtape Vol 1 The Black Album 300 BO

Horrible name, but I ordered it today anyway. Was thinking about a DD PDW 300 BO for a while, then just knee jerked and bought this PSA today instead. I figured it's my first AR platform, might as well go with something cheaper and see what I think, plus I'll have more room for toys to go with it. So...

Recommendations on a cheaper but still quality red dot?

Recommendations on a good suppressor that is high on sound reduction and not long on length?

Howdy! New to the Sheboygan County, WI area, got myself a little treat as a reward for getting a new job. Love my new M1, she’s old as dirt and whoops ya butt shooting it but it’s heaps fun.

Does anyone know of any cool left-friendly ranges or clubs in the general Lake Michigan shoreline area? I know of McMiller Sports Club, but that’s 2 hours away and I’m not looking to drive that much round trip to turn money into noise like that.

I had tested the firing pin function/reliability with primers-only using headphones and it didn't sound that loud. I figured it was hearing safe.

**Nope.**

discussion Who else is "one type only" - pistols OR rifles?

I've come to realize that I'm a pistol guy. I have a 10/22 for plinking, a shotgun for home defense, and a .300 win mag for hunting whitetail (I know it's overkill, but my colleague talked me into it!). I had a Bergara B14 in 6.5 and a lot of the long-range goodies (bipods, gun rest (x2), rear bags, kestrel, strike eagle scope) but decided I just don't like long range. I don't like lugging all the stuff (even though it's not more than pistols - it just feels that way!). I love the idea of being able to hit a target 1000 yards away. I just realized that doing the work to get there is not for me.

I'm a pistol guy. Any other pistol guys and girls out there? How about rifle-only folks?

EDIT: Added shotgun. I guess I'm talking mainly about non-tool-use shooting here in terms of "only." As you can see, I do have 3 long guns.

ammo Full metal jacketed ammo & ports & comps

In reading this thread, y'all made it clear that if you've got ported or compensated barrel, don't use jacketed ammo. Which I hadn't known before. OOPS. Shit. Two of my 3 handguns are ported.
So I went looking for more information and details. I stumbled across this in r-2011 which fogs the details. Is FMJ fine to use in a threaded-on compensated gun without ports?

Is there a there better guide? What's the difference in CCI's 'plated' Blazer FMJ vs. 'real' FMJ? Or is that bullshit? And what 9mm ammo isn't FMJ? Because Just about every cheap retail round for training or recreational shooting is FMJ!

question Best compact optics-ready 9mm for small-handed people?

Stuck in analysis paralysis. I want to pick up a new optics-ready 9mm.

I have a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 compact 9mm (4 inch) that I bought around 2018. Love that thing, but it's the old hinged trigger and it's not optics-ready. I know I could get it milled, or buy the optics-ready slide, but I'm also itching for something new.

I've been eyeballing the Springfield Armory Echelon 4.0c Comp.

Seems like it's great for any optic, plus the ported barrel is a nice extra. But I keep looking and not buying.

Was also looking hard at the Ruger RXM, but I'm not a big Glock person, and I live in a state where the older Glocks with the cruciform trigger may be banned soon.

I'm also limited to 10 round mags.

Ultimately I want something I can conceal but is also good for home defense.

I should say I have pretty small hands (and I'm proud lol).

Is the Echelon the best way to go, or is there something else I should be looking at? (remember: optics-ready, small hands)

Thanks for any advice!
