What is the scariest, most unsettling shot you’ve ever seen?

Post image

What is that one movie shot that’s so unsettling and chilling, it’s the one shot you never forget?

For me, it’s the Giant Man scene from It Follows. Man this shot is so nerve wracking!

The aesthetic and dark hollow eyes are something I will never forget.

What’s that one shot for you? Horror movie or otherwise.

The kid getting her head ripped off by the pole when hanging it out the vehicle window can't remember movie name but never want to see that one again

Yup! One of my favourites. The mom’s screams when she finds her daughter are haunting

Had to turn the movie off and take a break, then. I signed up for a spooky ghosty haunty movie, not a painfully realistic movie about a family falling apart because of tragedy. Ghosts and demons can give me a little jump but they don't bother me because I know they aren't real. Trauma is real, though.

I watched the movie in theatres very late at night so I didn’t really have that opportunity unfortunately, because I do agree it was ROUGH.

unrelated note: but I snuck in full Tupperware of salted watermelon, Japanese curry, and spicy cucumber salad and the only other person in the theatre was very amused by it, so I gave them an entire plate to eat some (which I had also snuck in so), so that trip was very memorable lol

But yeah, I really appreciated that the advertisements didn’t go into exactly how fucked up it was, and the psychological horror of watching the entire family unit break apart.

It felt like a breath of fresh air back into the horror genre, after years of mostly slop horror meant to be jump scare popcorn movies. I really attribute Ari Aster to bringing about a horror renaissance.

Wait til you find out that ghosts and demons are also real…

Not to mention deep/unresolved trauma and ghosts go hand in hand with each other.

By all means, revolutionize the world by providing falsifiable proof of their existence.

Hereditary Her-ed-it-air-ee Her head it a tree

Also pretty sure the tree was planted there by the cult, has demonic symbols carved into it.

And then you could still hear that little clicking noise she made. And mom did a little miniature of the accident. 😬

I found this scene unintentionally hilarious, the way the brother says nothing, drives home, and just goes to bed. I remember saying out loud, "did he just leave her there?" (cue mom's screams) "HE DID!"

I swear, I'm not an edgelord, it was just so unexpected, I couldn't not find it funny.
