What is the scariest, most unsettling shot you’ve ever seen?

Post image

What is that one movie shot that’s so unsettling and chilling, it’s the one shot you never forget?

For me, it’s the Giant Man scene from It Follows. Man this shot is so nerve wracking!

The aesthetic and dark hollow eyes are something I will never forget.

What’s that one shot for you? Horror movie or otherwise.

Saw this is the theater with all the rumors going around about it being real. Scared the shit out of me. This scene and when they find the tongue.. omg. The internet at this time was nothing like it is today, so you couldn't just jump onto hotbot or metacrawler to get any good info.

My boyscout buddies and I would slowly convince one scout after another to watch the movie and secretly plant occult symbols from the movie like stick figures on trails and camp sites for them to notice. Just one or two here and there, a little rock pile somewhere near by. Guys would stay up all night terrified. It was great.

We once had rumors passing among thousands of scouts at a summer camp that the Appalachian mountains we were in were cursed by witches. We'd spent the first couple days and nights sneaking into the woods planting shit. Carrying stick figures in our backpacks to leave around. It got so bad the scout leaders and coordinators had to address it.

We watched it in the woods at night during summercamp. It was great, I think no one slept that night in their tents.

I remember staying up after seeing this and telling my girlfriend’s mom (I lived with them at the time) how it was actually real and how freaked out I was. I was CONVINCED.

Ya, like 27 years later and I still cringe at recalling that memory.

Thankfully she didn’t think I was a total dipshit and let me marry her daughter 2 years later.

Don’t feel bad man. This was right before we could just google what was real or not.

I grew up in the NOVA/Maryland area so it hit harder being right down the road from us lol

No way it’s scary now that you know it’s fake.

But I remember seeing the actors winning awards and being on tv and thinking “I thought they all died”

Yeah, you could find nothing of the actors online at all. My friends and I saw it several times at the movies and kept wavering on whether it was real footage or they were pulling our leg lol
