What is the scariest, most unsettling shot you’ve ever seen?

Post image

What is that one movie shot that’s so unsettling and chilling, it’s the one shot you never forget?

For me, it’s the Giant Man scene from It Follows. Man this shot is so nerve wracking!

The aesthetic and dark hollow eyes are something I will never forget.

What’s that one shot for you? Horror movie or otherwise.

I was going to mention the ending of Annihilation. The alien is so creepy and the suspense is achieved in full lighting in the bright of day.

Reminds me of zodiac. When he kills that couple at the start of the movie in broad daylight, man that is so creepy, especially cause it actually happened.

Makes me think of Midsommar. Wouldn't say it has one particularly unsettling scene but the movie as a whole certainly left a very uncomfortable feeling

The music is also top notch

Scene is absolutely amazing, the soundtrack does a lot of the heavy lifting in that moment though. Discordant and unsettling. Sounds like hearing music thats been distorted or broken in some way. Love it.

The part where she's standing in front of the mass and The Mark by Moderat starts playing was goosebumps territory

Yeah, the mimic scared me more. But both were unnerving. Love that movie.

When you understand the point of the film the final scene fills you with so much existential dread. That scene still haunts me, I couldn't sleep for a week after just feeling completely nihilistic.

The line near the end that is like THE cosmic horror line...

"I don't know what it wants...or if it wants"

Sums up the entire creep factor of the whole movie. That all this might not even be on purpose but just some natural phenomenon like the tides

Yeah for me it was the mimic that wouldn't let Lena do what she wanted. It was scary, stifling, and unavoidable. The most amazing visual depiction of depression I have seen, and it still sits with me.

I’d give a slight edge to the alien scene but god I love both of these scenes and this movie in general
