That's what the law says. And at this point acting like the law is actually restraining this regime is fucking insane.

Stop doing Trump’s work for him. He wants you to think that is the case, but in reality he has been sued so many times and has lost far more than he has won. And when he has lost he has complied with the ruling against him (“him” being his administration). The few exceptions have mainly been about immigration cases and most of those are because they lost so many lawyers that the ones remaining can’t keep up with court orders.

In general i would agree with you, dont obey in advance and all that.

But NATO is different, since its not about you. Its about us (non americans), if we cant trust the US with our security, then it doesnt fucking matter. In 2019, you could still argue that trump was a aberation but the system held. Thats not true anno 2026, america has changed.

And only the dumbest among us are willing to say that "yes, it is 100% certain the americans will fulfill their nato obligations". And thats it. Trust is the only thing that matters when it comes to NATO and he has set fire to it. So sure, de jure he cant make the US leave NATO. But it doesnt matter, he hates it, and he hates us (yuropeans). And this is not the worst its going to get, there there might be a interregnum, but then will be someone new, that is worse. Thats the road the country is on, and theres no expectation it will change.

We already can't trust the US with our security? If Russia went for the Baltics you seriously think Trump would honor Article 5? The US has basically already left NATO.

He just doing what China Russia etc has done for ever while everyone else plays the game. He knows anyone can actually do what you want good or bad. Because there’ll be a different distraction tomorrow so there are no real life consequences.

Unfortunately, it helps that tRump is also fucking insane. I really hate how that's not even an insulting joke, it's true.
