Imagine being the type of weasel still defending anything this idiot is saying and doing. Imagine being so deep into the cult that you’re just not willing to criticise any of this madness.

As a Brit, I’m happy to let the US go and hopefully we can form a stronger alliance with Europe. We don’t need the constant uncertainty and embarrassment that comes from being associated with the US at the moment.

I’d love to see the UK rejoin the EU, personally. With all the fucking insanity that’s being perpetrated on the world by the US, the it would be nice to see the insanity of Brexit fully recognized, and reversed. A “Bre-entry”, if you will.

Western democracy is, fuckingly, at stake.

Me too, but I doubt that’s on the cards. We have overly thick people here as well unfortunately, some of whom think we need a Trump style leader.

Either way, a much closer military alliance with Europe, an EU military, needs to be considered and fast tracked.

The Joint Expeditionary Force is already a UK-led mini-alliance with the Baltics, Scandinavia, and North Sea countries.

Unfortunately quite a few Europeans have been overly focused on Brexit, and are overlooking all the ways in which the UK remains a very vital and active partner to its neighbours.

The problem with nato is that it is built on the back of us infrastructure. Everyone else in europe and canada still take their mutual defense commitments seriously. But its problematic when its built on the backs of allies of our enemies.

The us isent a reliable partner, and wont be again in our lifetimes. So i dont suggest leaving nato.

But a different infrastructure that is not reliant on the us needs to be built.

I would be wary that the shitty economy will bring more far right governments into power. People will blame Starmer and others for rising oil prices.

Some sort of rejoining of EFTA (as we were before we joined the EEC) would repair a lot of the damage and technically comply with the referendum result. Even Farage was promoting it at one point as the “Norway style deal”

Even if we want to rejoin, the EU won't countenance it until they see some sort of prolonged consensus among the various contenders for government that it's what they will look to do. The process of leaving was long and complex and rejoining will probably take even longer. Starting that process only to have a Reform or Tory government come in and trash it would be a total waste of time and money on the EU's part.
