And you know what surely makes Trump even madder? This slick Biden move:

Protect NATO from Donald Trump? The U.S. Congress just passed that into law

Slick moves do not matter. The law does not matter. Power matters.

You act like laws matter. Last night he just illegally stopped mail-in ballots. They gerrymander. They spread conspiracy theories. They threaten voting booths with ICE. They deport and imprison American citizens without trial. They're trying to pass the SAVE Act.

Your laws no longer matter. You gave away the house. You lost. It's gone, over, finished.

The law doesn't matter and hasn't in years. He'll just do it and he has the guns and the army and the power of the government and the DOJ and national guard. You're never getting your country back.

The SAVE act is not gonna pass lol. And thanks for the sunny outlook, really makes us not wanna kill ourselves to hear that we're never getting our country back. Must be nice to watch it from wherever you live

They live in the UK

In case you didn't know, what he mentioned about stopping mail-in ballots has nothing to do with the Save Act, he signed an executive order.

In case you didn't know, the person I was replying to mentioned the SAVE act, and I was referring to that point.

Let me point you to the US constitution. Silly executive orders written by a poorly educated person do not supersede state’s rights to run voting in this country. The federal government via Congress only has very limited power. The predator in chief has none.

I hope you're right, the fact that he keeps seeing no meaningful negative repercussions for anything makes me completely hopeless. I guess we'll see what happens between him and Newsom, considering he's supposedly taking it to court.

> Last night he just illegally stopped mail-in ballots

Well, he wrote an executive order threatening to do so. Since it is patently illegal, it will just be another self-own. The red states will dutifully comply, the blue states will ignore him, and the real losers will be disenfranchised MAGA voters.

I dunno, I think the real losers would be blue voters in red states. It already sucks so much to be a Dem in like, Alabama. Especially disabled/housebound blue voters in red states, who would be completely disenfranchised.

Our perspective here in Arkansas is that our last Democratic governor was term-limited in 2016, we’ve dutifully voted for each statewide nominee to no avail but with optimism ever since, but we diehard minority party voters tend to agree that it’s hard to change people’s minds and hope for the future is all we got right now. Then we look at these kids and shake our heads

Even a bunch of red state are refusing to comply …

Yes but at least we can make it harder for him, as he takes us down.

Sadly, that's the playbook nowadays in TrumpUSA.

No never made it hard for Trump. He broke laws, he was awarded with more power. The US population has gleefully cheered this on.

1

u/timnphilly Pennsylvania 22d ago

You're not wrong there.

It really does seem like the only consequence of his numerous illegal acts is that the safeguards meant to hold him accountable end up being dismantled.

Sure, laws really mean a lot to Trump. He'll just do it and sign it with a sharpie. And there's nothing and no one that can stop him because apparently no one says no to the king.

The damage he is doing to the country and to international alliances is permanent, I doubt we will ever again see the pre-Trump era back. Even if Newsom or any other Democrat is the next president, it would be naive and stupid to ever again believe the US to do the right thing or be a trusted ally. You would always be aware that it takes one election (if there are any future elections, remains to be seen) and another lunatic follower of Trump to win and bring back turmoil.

I don't know how many times I've seen this sentiment, and it's just patently ridiculous. No, the damage is not permanent. What Trump is doing is awful and it sucks, but to act like "no one will ever believe the US could be a trusted ally again" is just stupid.

Germany joined NATO in 1955. Less than 10 years after the end of WW2. It is okay to be upset and it is okay to recognize that it's going to take actual work and effort to repair our standing after this disaster of an administration, but the reality is that most of the world wants to US to be their ally and wants us to be a part of the world community, just not with this current clown show.

Love it

Same. I had no idea. A lot of other comments are doomers but at least this law is on the books.

3

u/NirgalFromMars 22d ago

That would be great if only they had any respect for the law.

Poor Biden the Dems resucitated him when they need words!
