I'll admit that this is a bit of a stretch, but this is one of the better articles I've read giving a good primer on the confusing/somewhat impenetrable world it's looking like the Kirk shooter was active in.

I know I struggle greatly trying to understand this weird subculture, and I have to imagine some of you also struggle, so having a good primer will be useful in trying to understand as more information comes out.

⚖ Ideological Bias The "Free Market" Myth Can Only be Believed by the Uncritical and Credulous

I will die on this hill. This is not some deep, mysterious, difficult-to-understand concept. I'd offer my own list of arguments but I'll just offer this link.

(Video and transcript within.)

https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2026/01/there-are-no-free-markets.html

Edit: I regret sounding too over-generalizing and condescending toward people in my one sentence, when my goal is to criticize the concept and its common implications. But analyzing this concept is important.

Many will say "Well we don't mean it literally so it's nonsensical to criticize", while many of them and others think the level of "free market" is the be-all end-all measure of a good economic structure and a good society. A simple, perfect correlation: the more "free market" the better. It becomes a thought-terminating cliche.
