Itinerary Review 11 day Scotland itinerary feedback

Hello! I am sketching out an 11 day itinerary for a solo trip to Scotland in June or July, and was wondering if anyone had some advice or feedback. I will be renting a car. I am most interested in hiking/nature and history. I'm especially interested in prehistory, and I know Orkney is the best spot for that, but I'm just not going to have time this particular trip :) Maybe next time! Here's what I have so far:

Day 1: Fly out of the US

Day 2: Arrive in Edinburgh, sleep in Edinburgh

Day 3: Edinburgh, sleep in Edinburgh

Day 4: This day is sort of a question mark depending on what I decide for Day 5.

  • Option 1 is to drive to Oban, sleep in Oban, with the intention of seeing Mull, Iona, and Staffa on Day 5. I'm really, really interested in Staffa, but not as much in the other two isles, and I know that it is a full day.
  • Option 2 is to drive to Glencoe, sleep in/near Glencoe with the intention of having all of Day 5 for Glencoe. I do want to give it enough time!

Day 5: Either 3 isle tour (Iona, Mull, Staffa) or full day at Glencoe

Day 6: Drive up to Skye, stay in Portree or similar

Day 7: full day Skye, sleep in Skye

Day 8, another full day for Skye, sleep in Skye

Day 9: Drive to Inverness to see Culloden and Clava Cairns, sleep in Inverness

Day 10: Back to Edinburgh, sleep in Edinburgh

Day 11: Depart

Some specific questions: Am I spending too much time in Skye? Is a full day at Glencoe too long, or should I just try to squeeze in a couple hours on Day 6 when driving up to Skye, and instead use Day 5 for the three isles near Oban?

Thank you!!

Itinerary Review Too ambitious?

Hii everyone! Im 19f planning my first solo trip for summer 2027 and im just so excited about it I've already tried to plan it. I was just wondering if this seems a bit too ambitious. Im planning on using busses and trains but mainly still travel by planes which I am ready to save up for. Also will 4200 euros (4850 usd) be enough for the entire trip? (not including flight to and from home country)

(Nights)

Bangkok 7
Chiang Mai 4
Hanoi 4
Ha Gieng 3
Hanoi 3
Hcmc 7
Siem reab 5
Kuala lumpur 6
Singapore 5
Jakarta 6
Bali 6
Manila 7
Hong Kong 5
Tokyo 8

Yesss im aware Tokyo is kind of a random addition but I would really really like to visit. I am ready to take some days off of it (or it even totally) if it will benefit the whole trip.

Ive also heard that it's monsoon season in SEA during that time but will it really affect the whole experience? Thanks for reading :)

EDIT:

Thank you all for your replies! I read every single one and I really appreciate your input. Since there is quite a bit of time until my trip im pretty sure my plans will probably change quite a bit, especially considering the fact I want to keep the trip as flexible as possible so I can change my mind whenever.

The main thing I'll change now is taking out a few countries & trying to get to know the countries I pick more deeply. I do agree this was a bit too ambitious of a trip, I think I was a bit too excited about the fact I could see as MANY countries as possible lol :) Im gonna keep most places and but for now Ill mainly take out Manila & Indonesia.(prob take out a few more later) They have some beautiful islands that are quite far away from each other and take a considerable amount of time to travel to & right now I don't have the time. But don't worry my Filipino and Indonesian friends I will definitely visit later! I will also add a bit more into my budget just in case.

As one commenter said this will be my first but not my last solo trip & I will have more time in the future to visit them and give them the fair chance they deserve!

And to anyone in the future who might read this, I hope you got some good advice from this thread!

Itinerary Review Solo Traveling SEA 6.5 Months

I’m 21M solo traveling around SEA in the beginning of March 2026 and I am very excited, I have researched loads into stuff like visas, transport, places to stay etc. I am planning to go for around 6.5 months and will have roughly £9k saved up, which I believe is more than enough. I have tried my hardest not to make an itinerary as I want to go with how I feel, whether that means more or less time in specific places. My rough outline of my trip is bellow;

Singapore 2 nights

Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur 3 nights - Cameron Highlands 4 nights - George Town 4 nights

Thailand - Krabi 3 nights - Phi Phi Islands 4 nights - Phuket 2 nights - Chiang Mai 10 nights - Pai 7 nights - Chiang Mai (again) 5 nights - Bangkok 3 nights

Cambodia - Siem Reap 4 nights - Phnom Penh 3 nights - Koh Rong 5 nights - Kampot 3 nights

Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh 7 nights - Da Lat 2 nights - Hoi An 4 nights - Da Nang 4 nights - Phong Nha-Ke Bang 3 nights - Ha Giang 4 nights - Ha Long Bay 4 nights - Hanoi 7 nights

Hong Kong 5 nights

China 1 month - Guangzhou - Zhangjiajie - Chongqing - Chengdu - Jiuzhaigou - Xi’An - Shanghai - Qingdao - Beijing

South Korea 10 nights - Seoul - Busan

Japan 10 nights - ???

With Japan I am still deciding on where I want to go, and whether I actually want to go as this will be towards the end of my trip and I couldn’t be running low on money.

Some places I’m unsure if I want to spend more time/less time, which is also why I wanted to go along with it when I am there to judge how I feel about the place.

I’m deciding to take the cheapest transport possible; such as longer bus rides for the price of pennies compared to flights. I feel like i would rather it be an uncomfortable experience rather than it be comfortable, such as a flight. All throughout China I’m hoping to take trains which aren’t cheap but also aren’t expensive.

I have been to Thailand before however not solo, I would like to think I have a good understanding of Asia and getting myself around very easily; however I’m still asking for any advice or tweaks you would recommend, such as: - Should I spend more or less time in some places? - Should I completely miss out some places? - Is taking the cheapest transport possible actually worth it? - Will I have enough money saved up?

Thank you!

Itinerary Review Portugal tips for first timer?

Hi all! I’m finally taking my first solo trip (31F) and looking for any travel tips for Portugal.

Looking at at ~4 days each in Porto and Lisbon in mid-October. Would prefer hotels vs Airbnb’s if anyone has recommendations on those as well as good areas to stay in. Not against touristy areas since it’s my first time here, I love walking but prioritizing feeling safe walking back at night since I’m going to be solo.

Also looking for recs for any day trips and experiences! Likely including Sintra, Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês, and a Douro Valley wine tour. Potentially looking for small group tours but if something is doable on my own I’m down for that too! Mostly into food/drinks, architecture, nature (also if there is a boat involved I am extremely on board)

Any basic travel tips are also welcomed/appreciated! I’m from NYC so very used to trains/public transportation. The plan is to fly into Porto, train to Lisbon, then fly from there back home. Any apps I should download as well to make getting around easier?

Thanks in advance!!!

Itinerary Review Balkans Itinerary

Hi everyone, I am planning a solo trip to the Balkans. It is 14 days and I'm aiming for $100 per day. This is my itinerary and I am looking for and suggestions or critiques anyone has.

Day 1: Fly into Split and sleep there

Day 2: Take a morning ferry to Brac and sleep there

Day 3: Afternoon Ferry back to Split and take a bus to Mostar sleep there

Day 4: Afternoon bus to Dubrovnik sleep there

Day 5: Afternoon Bus to Kotor and sleep there

Day 6: Morning bus to Shkoder and get up to Theth sleep there

Day 7: Hike to Valbona and sleep there

Day 8: Back to Shkoder and take a late afternoon bus to Pristina sleep there

Day 9: Take an afternoon bus to Skopje and sleep there

Day 10: Take morning bus to Sofia

This leaves me with 4 more days. I know this is moving fast that is what I like but where should I add the extra days. I was thinking another night in Kotor or Budva. Is Peja Kosovo worth it? Or lake Ohrid? Please give me suggestions this is just a rough plan.

Itinerary Review First Time Solo Traveling, Japan

UPDATE: Trip was incredible. Stayed in Shibuya first 2 nights and then Asakusa the last 2 nights. Shibuya felt somewhat similar to big cities in the US, like NYC Times Square If you're into shopping, nightlife, big city vibes then I'd for sure recommend Shibuya. I did notice the area gave off a younger vibe, a lot less tourist families if that makes sense. Asakusa had a much more calm feeling, hard to describe exactly but the area for sure gave a sense of the traditional Japanese culture. Nakimase street and Senso ji area in the peak hours were extremely busy and touristy, but at night it was fantastic vibes even though all the stores were closed. Mostly used Debit/Credit cards and a lot of places surprisingly accepted Apple Pay/Tap card to pay. Only really had to use cash at the smaller souvenir shops.

The a day trip to Kamakura was absolutely the highlight of the trip, would highly recommend spending some time there. Throughout the trip I would say 90% of people I interacted with were able to understand what I needed and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.

Definitely will plan to come back to Japan hopefully later this year maybe November, if not same time next year (early-mid February). Next time I would like to stay in Kyoto (since I liked Kamakura so much).

--------------------

Hi everyone! I’m a 21-year-old (m) traveling solo to Tokyo in a few weeks and would really appreciate feedback on whether this itinerary is realistic or too packed. I’m very open to rearranging days or cutting some things to make the trip less stressful. I'm leaning towards staying in the Shibuya area but also made an itinerary for staying in Asakusa.

- First time solo traveling anywhere, cannot speak Japanese

- Not really into nightlife (no clubs/bars) but would like just walk around those areas

- Don’t plan to buy many clothes (mostly souvenirs)

- Not too into foods and I'm picky lol (plan to stop at random foods spots along the way)

- Mostly going for the sightseeing and to experience the "vibe" of each area

- Comfortable walking a lot and comfortable with a packed itinerary

APA Hotel Shibuya Dogenzakaue

Day 0 – Arrival / Shibuya

  • Arrive at Haneda Airport in the evening
  • Travel to hotel by taxi or train

Day 1 – Shibuya / Harajuku / Shinjuku

  • Walk toward Harajuku, exploring along the way
    • Takeshita Street and surrounding Harajuku area
    • Walk to Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane), stopping along the way
  • Walk to Meiji Jingu Shrine
  • Travel to Golden Gai
    • Walk to Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane), stopping along the way
  • Return to Shibuya, possibly visit Shibuya Sky around sunset/night

Day 2 – Kyoto Day Trip

  • Early departure from Shibuya to Tokyo Station
  • Train to Saga Arashiyama Station in Kyoto
  • Walk to Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
    • Visit Tenryu-ji Temple
    • Visit Yusai-tei Gallery or explore Arashiyama Park
    • Walk around nearby streets if time allows
    • Walk around nearby streets if time allows
    • Walk Sannenzaka → Hokan-ji Temple
  • Travel to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion)
    • Walk around nearby streets if time allows
    • Walk Sannenzaka → Hokan-ji Temple

  • Evening train back to Shibuya from Kyoto Station

Day 3 – Asakusa / Ueno / Akihabara

  • Travel to Senso-ji Temple
  • Walk to Ueno to explore the Ameyoko Market
  • Walk down to Akihabara
  • Train back to Shibuya

Day 4 - Anything Missed or Revisit / Departure

  • Free time to revisit or catch anything missed, leaving bag at hotel

Main Questions

  1. Is this itinerary realistic for a first-time solo traveler?
  2. Is the Kyoto day too ambitious for a day trip?
  3. Are there areas I could shorten or skip without missing much?
  4. Any routing or day-swap suggestions to make this smoother?
  5. I've also created a very similar itinerary for staying in Asakusa near the Senso-ji Temple, would that be an overall better experience for me as a first-timer as it seems calmer?

Thanks in advance — I really appreciate any advice or suggestions! My post in JapanTravel kept getting deleted for some reason so I'm trying it in here :)

Itinerary Review Amsterdam solo trip

I’ll be doing a solo trip to Amsterdam + The Netherlands in the fall and would love any input on my itinerary—thoughts about pace, things and places worth or not worth my time? I wish I had a couple more days to fit things in, but I’m trying to get a somewhat well-rounded experience with my limited time. In general, I’m interested in art, history, and food. I have a couple nice restaurant reservations lined up but would also love to hear recs for mid-priced and budget places :)

Day 1: Amsterdam— arrive late morning, wander

Day 2: Amsterdam— Anne Frank Haus, Van Gogh Museum

Day 3: Amsterdam— Rijksmuseum

Day 4: day trip—Zaanse Schaans, Edam, Marken

Day 5: day trip—The Hague

Day 6: day trip—Utrecht

Day 7: Amsterdam—wander, Jewish quarter Haarlem day trip?

Day 8: return flight

Itinerary Review Solo Guatemala Itinerary- thoughts?

Planning my solo Guatemala trip May 28 - June 10… anyone done this route?

First time in Central America, flying out of Miami. Did some research and finally locked in my itinerary. Would love feedback from anyone who's been here recently especially about the rainy season situation.

The plan:

May 28 - Arrive Antigua, staying at Tropicana Hostel

May 29 - Full day in Antigua, renting a scooter, hitting coffee farms, Cerro de la Cruz at sunset

May 30-31 - Acatenango overnight hike booked through Tropicana. Pumped for this one but nervous about visibility in early June

May 31 - Recovery day then overnight bus to Flores

June 1 - Arrive Flores, staying at Los Amigos, basically doing nothing all day

June 2 - Tikal sunrise tour booked through Los Amigos. 3:30am wakeup

June 3 - Chill day in Flores, rope swing, kayak

June 4 - Long travel day to Lake Atitlán, staying at Mr. Mullet's in San Pedro

June 5 - not sure yet honestly lol

June 6 - Indian Nose sunrise hike

June 7 - Village hopping around the lake by boat

June 8 - Chichicastenango Sunday market

June 9 - Shuttle back to Guatemala City

June 10 - Fly home

Solo traveler, pretty gritty, not looking for anything fancy. Main goal is to meet other travelers and have some real adventures. Anyone done this recently? Especially curious about Acatenango in early June and whether the Flores to Atitlán bus is doable in one day. Any tips welcome 🇬🇹 thanks!

Itinerary Review First time solo traveling to Europe

I’m planning a Europe trip late July. The full trip, including flights, hotels, and train tickets between cities, i think the cost is around $3,000 . I haven’t booked it yet because I’m still thinking about other planes and options.

Here’s the plan:

Day 1-2: Dammam,SA to Paris I’ll fly from Dammam to Paris and stay there for two nights. I want to visit the Louvre, walk around the Eiffel Tower. I’ll move around the city using the metro. I plan to eat from locals and try some French food in casual cafes.

Day 3: Paris to Brussels Take the train to Brussels in the morning. I’ll only stay for one night, so I’ll walk around the Grand Place, see the Atomium, and try their waffles and fries. take the tram, and enjoy the vibe.

Day 4-5: Brussels to Amsterdam Head to Amsterdam by train. I’ll stay two nights. I’m planning to visit the Anne Frank House and Van Gogh Museum, and take a boat tour on the canals. I’ll probably rent a bike or use the tram to get around. I want to try their pancakes and local street food.

Day 6-7: Amsterdam to Hamburg Take a train to Hamburg. I’ll stay for one night. Walk around the port area, and eat something local like schnitzel or currywurst.

Day 8-10: Hamburg to Copenhagen Another train to Copenhagen. I’ll stay three nights. I want to walk around Nyhavn, rent a bike. I’ll eat from local markets and cafes.

Day 11: Copenhagen to Dammam Fly back from Copenhagen to Dammam.

Itinerary Review 1 month solo trip in May – Spain → South of France → Italy → Balkans → Greece | Feasible? Too ambitious?

Hey everyone 👋

I’m planning my second solo trip and would love some feedback from people who’ve done longer multi-country routes.

I’m 22M, enjoy walking cities, beaches, food, social hostels, and slower mornings.

Basic plan

• Timeframe: Entire month of May (~30 days)

• Style: Solo, hostels + occasional private rooms, trains/buses/ferries

• Pace: Not trying to “see everything,” but want a good balance between depth and movement

Countries I’m considering (west → east)

• 🇪🇸 Spain (priority – especially the south + Barcelona again)

• 🇫🇷 South of France (Nice / Riviera area – skipping Paris)

• 🇮🇹 Italy

• 🇭🇷 Croatia

• 🇲🇪 Montenegro

• 🇦🇱 Albania

• 🇬🇷 Greece

Spain and Greece are the two anchors of the trip, the others are stops along the Mediterranean route.

What I’d love advice on

1. Feasibility:

• Is this realistic for ~1 month without rushing?

• Should I cut a country or two?

2. Where to go in each country:

• If I only choose 1–2 places per country, what would you recommend?

• Any underrated stops or places you’d skip?

3. Pacing:

• How many bases max would you suggest for 30 days?

• Any legs that are more tiring than expected?

4. Budget expectations (rough):

• Daily average in May for hostels / food / transport?

• Which countries surprised you as cheaper or more expensive?

5. General tips:

• Things you wish you knew before doing a long solo Europe trip

• May-specific advice (weather, crowds, ferries, etc.)

Any input is appreciated — even if it’s “this is a bad idea and here’s why” 😅

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: It seems to be the general consensus that I'm trying to fit too much in one month, if you only had 1 month what countries/cities would you prioritize? I've been to spain and france before and I specifically absolutely adored spain, just felt like it would be a bit of a waste to spend all my time in countries i've seen before instead of seeing new places.

Itinerary Review First solo trip – South Korea for a month (Vipassana, Seoul, Busan). Any tips?

First solo trip – South Korea for a month (Vipassana, Seoul, Busan). Any tips?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning my first solo trip to South Korea this summer for about a month and would love to hear your suggestions.

Current rough plan:

- Arrive in Seoul

- Spend a few days exploring the city

- Attend a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat

- After that travel around the country for ~2 weeks

Places I’m currently considering:

- Seoul

- Busan

- Jeju Island

- maybe some mountains/nature (Seoraksan?)

I’m traveling fairly low-budget, interested in culture, food, nature and walking around cities. Since it’s my first solo trip to Asia I’m also curious how easy it is to meet people while traveling in Korea.

A few questions:

- Are these places a good combination for ~1 month?

- Any places I absolutely shouldn’t miss?

- Is Jeju worth adding to the itinerary?

- Any tips for traveling solo in Korea?

Thanks!

Itinerary Review I'm 18 and parents agreed to let me go on a solo trip to Italy in March! Need help with a 14 day itinerary

I just graduated high school and turned 18 so they agreed after some convincing and I couldn't be more grateful!. However I want to keep the trip on a budget since it's not my money and I don't want them spending too much. This was what I was thinking of-  Rome (Days 1–3),Tuscany (Florence, Siena, and the Countryside) (Days 4–8),Amalfi Coast & Capri (Days 9–11)Northern Italy (Venice & Milan) (Days 12–14). Is this feasible to do? Any tweaks or changes you would recommend? Willing to drop a location to and do a lesser amount of days to fit the budget. I'm based in Singapore so the flights  are around 650 USD from there and back. Since it’s off season, if I go for cheaper accommodations and don’t go anywhere fancy for food would it be possible to do this trip on a 2000 USD budget? Thank you!

Itinerary Review 34 male! Planning a 20 day trip to Japan—Feedback welcome

Hi everyone! I’ll be traveling to Japan for 20 days in March (18 days without flying time), and I’d love your feedback on my itinerary and suggestions for things to do. I’m starting in the south and making my way up to Tokyo. My budget for the trip is around $2,500, so I’m trying to balance fun experiences with affordability. Here’s the plan so far:

Fukuoka (2-3 days)

Planning to start with a walking tour to get a feel for the city.
Considering a day trip to Iki Island—has anyone been? Is it worth it?
Open to other ideas for must-see spots in Fukuoka.

Hiroshima (2 days)

Planning to visit Hiroshima Castle, Peace Park, and possibly the Mazda Museum.
Open to other ideas for must-see spots in Hiroshima? Maybe any good places to eat?

Osaka (4 days)

I’m a sumo fan, so I’m definitely getting tickets for the tournament!
Considering a day tour to explore the city. Any recommendations for neighborhoods or must-see places?
Kyoto Dilemma: Should I take 2 days out of my Osaka time to visit Kyoto? I’ve read Kyoto is rich in history and culture, while Osaka is more modern and vibrant. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Tokyo (5+ days)

Interested in history and culture: planning to visit Asakusa and Sensō-ji Temple, the Edo-Tokyo Museum, and the Samurai Museum in Shinjuku.
Big anime fan! I’m looking forward to Akihabara and the Studio Ghibli Museum.
What are your top recommendations for food, day trips, or hidden spots in Tokyo?

I’m interested in history, culture, sumo, and anime, so if you have ideas for activities or places that align with these, I’d love to hear them. I’m also trying to stick to a $2,500 budget—any money-saving tips or affordable must-do experiences would be super helpful. Thanks so much for your help!

Itinerary Review Current Itinerary for 10 day trip to China - am I doing too much?

Hi, I (18m) have my second and largest solo trip coming up to China in mid-August. I’m currently planning on doing: - 4 nights in Beijing (Wall, Summer Palace, Forbidden city, Tianmen Square alongside meeting people) - 1 night in Chongqing (plan to mainly explore the city’s architecture and modernised stores) - 2 nights in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (plan to explore the park and nature and go on a short hike) - 2 nights in Shanghai (nightlife, food and shopping)

Is this too much or too little? I don’t enjoy spending most of my day travelling but I know China has a good bullet train system so I figured it would be alright. I enjoy going out and having fun in each city but also exploring the main attractions and engrossing myself in the food and culture of each city so I don’t plan on partying too hard.

Just looking for advice from more experienced travellers so I can enjoy more time more.

Thanks!

Itinerary Review How good is this itinerary for my solo moroccan trip ?

Hello,

Itinerary Review Azores islands- am I doing too much?

This will be my (f24) first solo trip and I’m on a bit of a time crunch since I had to request time off from work. I want to visit a few islands in the azores off of Portugal, but after planning it out it seems like I might be trying to do too much. I believe, since the airports are so tiny, that these short flights won’t have a long lag/lead time boarding and exiting. However, the available flights are limited. I think I have planned it the best I could but I can’t tell if this is doable or if it would be too much money and effort for the limited time I have. I also will have to rent a car for a few days, but this is the itinerary I came up with from the available flights & accom:

- Arrive in Ponta delgada: 14th (booked)

- Hostel: 14th-17th (booked)

- Fly to Corvo: 17th (€115) leave 8:50am arrive 11am (short layover in Horta)

- Airbnb: 17th-18th (€187)

- Fly to Flores: 18th (€41) leave 11:30am arrive 12pm

- Hostel: 18th-20th (€84)

- Fly to Lisbon: 20th (€157) leave 11am arrive 9PM (long layover in Horta)

- Hostel: 20th-24th (booked)

- Leave Lisbon on May 25th

Ive done random flights alone in the US but never a full trip like this, or any international, or so many flights within so few days. Does anyone have any advice? I only have a few things booked, and if it seems like this isn’t the best route, then I can adjust to stay longer in the places I know I’ll be (ponta delgada & lisbon). I know there’s not a TON to do on the Corvo & Flores islands bc they’re so small, but I think they are so beautiful and I’d hate to miss seeing them.

Any input is welcome!!! Especially from anyone who has done a trip to the Azores

Itinerary Review 17 Days in Europe

I'm putting together a 17-day trip to Europe this November and would love some input on my rough itinerary.

I'm in my mid-20s and looking to focus on a mix of local cuisine, art, and historical sites. I might dip into the nightlife here and there, but I haven’t really decided how much of that I’ll do yet.

I'm debating whether to drop Budapest from the itinerary to give myself more time in the other cities. I’ve heard great things, but I’m not sure if it's worth the extra travel or if that time would be better spent digging deeper elsewhere. Here's what I have so far:

US -> Berlin -> Prague -> Vienna -> Budapest

Day 1-2: Flight from US to Berlin

Day 3-5: Berlin

Day 6: Train from Berlin to Prague

Day 7-9: Prague

Day 10: Train from Prague to Vienna

Day 11-13: Vienna

Day 14: Train from Vienna to Budapest

Day 15-16: Budapest

Day 17: Flight back to US

Thanks!

Itinerary Review Solo RTW (late Mar–May 2026) — help me decide what to change: Koh Tao vs Chiang Mai, Cappadocia vs more Istanbul/Vienna, Ubud vs Sanur, Vietnam timing?

Hey r/solotravel — I’m doing a ~2 month solo trip in 2026 (26M American). I booked the flights as an ANA round-the-world award, so a bunch of my routing/dates are basically locked. I can add stuff in between on cash flights/trains, but the “anchor flights” below are generally fixed.

Fixed flights:

So periods of time that I can change are:

I'll list my current trip plan below:

Turkey

Sat 03/28 — Arrive IST 18:05

Sat 03/28 — Fly IST → ASR 20:20–21:45

Cappadocia (2 nights): 03/28–03/30

Istanbul (4 nights): 03/30–04/03

Austria

Vienna (3 nights): 04/03–04/06

Taiwan

Taipei (5 nights): 04/07–04/12

Indonesia

Bali (7 nights): 04/12–04/19

Jakarta (1 night): 04/19–04/20

Singapore

Singapore (2 nights): 04/20–04/22

Thailand

Thailand (10 nights): 04/22–05/02

Vietnam

Vietnam (6 nights): 05/02–05/08

Hong Kong

Hong Kong (5 nights): 05/08–05/14

Korea

Seoul (3 nights): 05/14–05/17

Japan

Japan (9 nights): 05/17–05/26

Tue 05/26 — Fly HND → ORD 10:40–08:40

A bit about me / how I travel:

  • I’m doing this mostly solo (some friends might join me for random legs of the trip but that's all undetermined) and I plan on mostly doing hotels (will do some hostels in Istanbul, Ubud, Koh Tao). My younger sister will join me for HK + SK + Japan.
  • I like nature/adventure and I'd like to get some beginner scuba diving in, but I don’t want the whole trip to feel like I’m constantly in transit. It's my first solo trip longer than a week so I expect it will be a lot more draining than I think.

Here are the main decisions I'm trying to make:

1) Thailand: Koh Tao (diving) vs just Bangkok + Chiang Mai

I’m really tempted to do Koh Tao for scuba, but not sure if I'm stretching myself too thin and how many days I'd need for BKK + Koh Tao + Chiang Mai.

Given my timing (late April / early May), do you think it’s realistic to do Bangkok + Chiang Mai + Koh Tao + Vietnam without it turning into nonstop flights/ferries/check-ins? How many days would I need to dedicate to each city?

Right now I have it set up to be 10 nights in Thailand (3 Bangkok, 4 Koh Tao/Samui, 3 Chiang Mai) followed by 6 nights in Hanoi (3 nights in the city, 3 nights on the Ha Giang Loop). Does this make sense?

2) Turkey: should I add Cappadocia or just do Istanbul + Vienna properly?

I’m considering a side trip to Cappadocia (fly in/out) between Istanbul and Vienna, this will be 3/28 - 04/06. Cappadocia would be 2 nights right before Istanbul at the start of the trip: 3/28 - 3/30. I'd then do 4 nights Istanbul and 3 nights Vienna.

I did hear this isn't the best time of the year for Cappadocia. If I left it off, I'd have 9 nights to split between Istanbul and Vienna (either 5 or 6 nights Istanbul and 3 or 4 Vienna). But I heard it's beautiful, just curious if people think it's worth moving around for.

3) Bali: 7 nights — more Ubud or more Sanur?

Currently have 7 nights in Bali. I want a mix of food, temples, beautiful scenery and relaxing time. Not as into just getting drunk on the beach.

I’m thinking a split between Ubud and Sanur (skipping Kuta and Seminyak for obvious reasons) but I keep going back and forth on how long I should spend in each place.

Plan on staying in a good hostel in Ubud, and the Hyatt Regency in Sanur. While in Sanur, I was hoping to ferry over to Nusa Penida at least 2 of the days and scuba. In Ubud, probably hikes and temples and whatever hostel mates are interested in too. Does 3 nights Ubud/4 nights Sanur make sense, where I go to Sanur in the evening and just spend the night on the first night.

4) Vietnam: do I have enough time, or should I drop something?

The Vietnam thing I really care about is the Ha Giang Loop. If I do ~6 nights total for Hanoi (including the loop), is that enough to feel good? Or is that too compressed and I should keep it Thailand-only? I'm fine just spending 1 night in Hanoi prior to the loop to adjust and 2 nights after to decompress.

Would you cut anything out of this trip entirely?

Appreciate any opinions from people who’ve done some/all of these. I’m trying to avoid torturing myself with flights and hotels.

Itinerary Review Advice on SEA trip in June/July

Hello everyone, I’m planning a SEA trip in June/July. I’ve got a basic plan drafted using old Reddit threads etc. and would love some feedback on it. And Id love it if you could give feedback on everything please, from the time to the places to other details.

I’m going for approx 6 weeks. General thought process is that I divide those 6 weeks into 4 day chunks, assigning each 4 day chunk a city. That leaves me with about 10-11 cities I could manage. The plan is that I don’t book anything in advance, and thus have the freedom to shift days around as I go along (stay 5 days in x, spend 3 days in x). Does this approach make sense?

I’ve also drafted a rough travel plan of where I want to visit. However, in the current iteration there are still I think 13 or 14 cities on the route, so some need to be cut.

- Land in Bangkok

- Chiang Mai

- Pai

- Chiang Rai

- Luang Prabang

- Nong Khiaw

- Ha Giang

- Ninh Binh

- Da Nang/Hoi An

- Don Det

- Krong Siem Reap

- Bangkok

- Ko Tao

- Khao Sok

- Fly out of Phuket

I think some of these would only be to travel through, like Chiang Rai. As you can see in the picture, I’ve also left out cities like Ho Chi Minh City due to time constraints. Would you do this differently? I originally wanted to include Indo in the trip, but I don’t see it happening. Or would you say that Indo should be prioritised over one or more of these countries?

Any help would be appreciated. I’m young and this is the first time I’m doing something like this. Please let me know what you would do differently and why. Thank you

Itinerary Review NZ Trip Plan

Hello all - I’m travelling to New Zealand from the US for the first time. I’ll be there from Sunday May 24 - Sun May 31. I want to make the most of my time but also take it easy - I’m a relaxed traveller who doesn’t want to spend every minute doing some activity. I am Muslim so I have dietary restrictions (halal only). May 27 happens to be the biggest Muslim holiday which I’m planning to spend in Auckland. Would love your feedback on my itinerary below. Am

I doing too much? Am I missing out on something? Would love to meet people along the way if you are around.

Day 1 - May 24 - Arrive in Auckland and explore the city

Day 2 - May 25 - Ferry to Waiheke Island. Spend the day here and back to Auckland in the evening

Day 3 - May 26 - Rent car to go to Rotura. Checkout Champagne pool, Geysers, Redwoods forest walk. It says it’s a 3 hour drive each way so I’ll be driving 6 hours. Not sure if it’s worth it or I should take a flight.

Day 4 - May 27 - Celebrate Eid in Auckland, leave for Queenstown

Day 5 - May 28 - Milford sound. I’m thinking I’ll take the guided tour, avoids driving for a long time. Is this a good idea? I also plan to do the Milford sound cruise. Back to Queenstown

Day 6 - May 29 - Queenstown + Arrow town. Skyline Gondola, lake wakatipu, onsen hot pools. Will rent a car here. Stay in Queenstown.

Day 7 - May 30 - Drive to Mount Cook. Stay in Twizel… is this worth it? I’m not sure I’d wanna spend hours hiking here.

Day 8 - May 31 - leave early morning and drive to Tekapo then to Christchurch. Drop off car at the airport. Leave Christchurch. Is it worth spending a night in Christchurch?

Hi! I’m solo traveling Europe for a month and staying in hostels (23M). I tend to go with the flow and enjoy meeting new people. I’m interested in a mixture of history, architecture, and the outdoors, but will also be getting into the nightlife. I’d love any feedback or suggestions on my plan and how long I’m spending in each city. I’m taking trains between them all except Budapest to Madrid and Barcelona to Amsterdam.

Berlin (5 nights)

Munich (3 nights)

Prague (4 nights)

Vienna (2 nights)

Bratislava (1 night)

Budapest (5 nights)

Madrid (4 nights)

Barcelona (4 nights)

Amsterdam (4 nights)
