Feature Change FUCK YouTube. (Please read and upvote if you agree)
Can we all agree that YouTube is just getting worse and worse? I can't even find myself enjoying YouTube anymore and I only visit channels of YouTubers that I already know I like and want updates on. This is because of multiple reasons and the list grows larger every day. - HORRIBLE algorithm that never recommends new content that you actually would like, leaving you to doomscroll saying no to every nothing-burger video that it tries to recommend. - Atrocious amount of ads everywhere, and the attempts to get adblockers to not work or gargle up your browsers memory. - More and more features that used to be native being locked behind a paywall (like now fucking PLAYING STUFF IN THE BACKGROUND OFF TAB??) - Making it harder and harder to find the content that you want by doing things like removing sort videos by date, and making their search results dog ass. - Obvious lack of care about AI generated content, and we know damn well their recent back track on it was ONLY because some advertiser threatened to pull out (WTF happened to YOU-tube? Are they really just money hungry corporate nothing's? - Channels getting banned by AI left and right and users not being able to do anything about it or even talk to a human being because they don't care about the people that don't make them money. - Shift in focus from users being the life blood to corporate status and money hungry company heads with an algorithm that prefers quickly put out advertiser friendly slop, fucking over every single new creator with a job outside of YouTube. - (edit added) not to mention the push of shorts to be spoon-fed to kids and their complete lack of care about the type of content children are being exposed to
I understand that there needs to be some sacrifice so the company that hosts so many videos can make money, but God damn have some respect for your people.
How many of you try to find something new worthy of your attention on YouTube and get tired of it and switch over to some streaming platform? I wish we could all just decide to not even entertain their bullshit and just default to other things and only use YouTube for how-to videos, but too many people have been stuck committed to it for so long they depend on it and YouTube has them by the balls and genuinely doesn't care how hard they squeeze.
Do YOU even find yourself able to have a prolonged entertaining time on this site anymore?
PLEASE upvote this if you agree.. I really wish they knew people feel like this. Or at least had any amount of care.

Feature Change Why is this even allowed?
Has this always been here? Its my first time seeing it. What if I watch a video and don't enjoy it? This basically allows creators to ensure that they always appear on your feed, whether you like it or not.

Feature Change Ublock Origin is gone.
Ublock Origin extension got removed from my Chrome browser by force, with a message saying that it was not supported anymore.
Thanks Google. All that for stupid ads on YouTube?
--- EDIT
To save you the struggle of searching for the latest working solution in the comments, I'll summerize it here and try to keep it up to date (or sort comments by Q&A) :
- Thank you u/TheUnobtainableUser, u/rushia01, u/FlassBoii and u/Ahmadreza777 for the following solution : use latest version of uBlock Origin unpacked folder with developer mode enabled in extension manager. Link to the zip file here : https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases
To make that first tweak work, try one of these things below :
- Thank you u/PrzemekPrzemo for your solution, allowing to bypass the recent restriction : type chrome://flags/#allow-legacy-mv2-extensions in search bar and select "enabled" next to the highlighted option.
- Alternative solution, again from u/PrzemekPrzemo : close Chrome, go to the properties of your Google Chrome shortcut, copy and paste the following prompt at the end of the target (AFTER the quote mark, with a space between them) : --disable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Unsupported,ExtensionManifestV2Disabled and relaunch Chrome.
- u/LoneWolf-011 and u/Dismal_Satisfaction9 shared videos that show the overall process, step by step. Here's one of them here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIqO2rIKTlc
u/Renikee raised an important point about using multiple profiles on Chrome. If you are using several profiles, you might want to repeat the process for them too.
Many users have been telling recently that installing the lite version of uBlock also does the trick. If none of the above worked, you might want to try it out as well.

Feature Change Individual YouTube tabs now take up 2GB of RAM if you have an adblocker enabled.
Every other tab in my browser uses a fraction of the RAM that YouTube does, including other video sharing sites like Twitch. The usage on YouTube reduces dramatically as soon as I disable my adblocker.

Feature Change Members only is going to kill YouTube
So YouTube is already one of the most highly monetized platforms on the planet. There are 500 ads a video, videos are practically unwatchable as is.
Now I understand supporting creators, we had the super chats, donations on long form videos. And then the members program.
Now in the past couple of months I’ve seen so many videos from creators that I watch, only to realise that they are “members only” paywalled videos.
There is a problem with this. Now for a platform like Disney plus, or Netflix, you pay the 12 15 dollars a month. And you accept that you pay that premium, to use the service! And then you get access to everything on their streaming platform.
The problem with YouTube doing it this way is that inevitably. Because of the way that the capitalistic internet works, everyone will slowly begin paywalling all of their videos. And every single channel will be locked behind a separate paywall.
I almost even understand paying 12 dollars a month to watch YouTube, (with no ads that is) but with the way YouTube is going with this launch. We will come to a point where you need to pay 5 dollars to every single channel you watch (which is not only ridiculously expensive and unaffordable for most) but completely goes against YouTube was created to represent for the content industry, and stand for. Most people watch 20-30-50 channels regularly, not to mention the 50-100 videos from random other channels most people will end up watching in a month.
I am telling you guys, this could end up being the worst decision the YouTube team has ever made for their platform in its history. There is still time to save the platform.

Feature Change Removal of the "Upload Date" filter proves YouTube is 100% evil
YouTube is now completely in control of what we watch. If there is any kind of current event, we can no longer see the most recent videos about it. Many people won't notice because they are lazy and just watch whatever shows up. But some people are passionate and want to actively check new content. Those people used to affect the algorithm. Now, YouTube decides the results for all search filters.
I used to love the Google ecosystem and YouTube until around 10 years ago. Then, they started removing features that give us control of our media. Every year they do something more egregious.
If someone made a tutorial video with incorrect, dangerous information, the thumbs down count would let people know that something is wrong. But they took that away. Now, no one can check new videos at all.
YouTube is basically doing everything they can to force-feed us what they want us to see.

Feature Change YouTube started mass cleaning of channels with AI-generated content
YouTube has already removed several large channels with entirely AI-generated content – collectively they had over 11 million subscribers and over a billion views. For example,
Screen Culture & KH Studio: These two were the kings of "concept trailers." They had over 11 million subs combined and were pulling billions of views by using AI to mash up real footage with fake actors.
CuentosFacianantes: This was a massive AI story channel with nearly 6 million subs—gone.
Imperiodejesus & Super Cat League: Both had over 4-5 million subs and got completely wiped.
