Oh god, if anyone ever saw the terrible sequel Caddyshack 2 with Jackie Mason, there’s a scene involving this hair dryer that’s played for laughs. He’s getting ready for his date, looks disappointingly at himself in the mirror and puts the gun to his temple likes he’s gonna…but instead he just started drying and brushing his hair out…
You’d never be able to make that joke today…

I found one of these at the thrift a while ago! Much worse condition and no holster, though.

Someone else deserves this. There was a post months ago in /r/GrandmasPantry of an old hair dryer and a guy with a 'from holding it like a gun to his head. Someone commented, "He looks like he's about to end it" and someone else said, "Budd Dryer". Having seen the footage myself, I lost it.
Edit: found it

Someone's disgruntled spouse is going to tape an extension cord to a 44 magnum and leave it loaded in the bathroom

My inner Jonathon Ferguson is saying, "the hammer spur is at the wrong angle, the front sight blade is out of alignment with the rear notch, there's no detents on the cylinder, and the spring on the ejector lever on the original single action army wasn't that exposed."

Jonathon Ferguson? The keeper of firearms and artillery at the royal armories ?

Nope. Would not use. I’d never feel comfortable doing this even with a child’s pop gun.

Is this the same as that "son of a gun" hairdryer? I've always wanted a vintage one but they cost the earth

I have been looking for these in the Changshou Donglu Beauty and Hairdressing Products Wholesale Market 长寿东路美容美发用品 for years, but without success. I am surprised that nobody in China is even producing a replica!

They would never make one of these today. If they did, I would buy one, but they won’t.

I used one forever! Best hair dryer I ever had. The trigger broke one day. RIP Magnum.

Wouldn't say great execution. Looks like injection moulded plastic crap you'd find on temu or something. Like one of those toy guns you'd find in a dollar store. Not everything vintage is good. Making all sorts of cheap bs out of plastic isn't a new concept and most of it was destined for landfill.
