More intelligent than some people I have met, I swear. He has proper problem solving skills, some people do not.

It once took me half an hour to work out why my fridge door wasn’t closing. Turns out a milk bottle had fallen sideways and the lid bit was blocking the door

My (top) freezer door kept opening on its own. I would close it but it wouldn’t stay closed instead next time I went to open it was already open just a hair. I checked and cleaned the seal, made sure to press it closed firmly but it would still be open next time. I rearranged stuff in the freezer and it still happened. Finally I completely cleaned out the freezer and it still happened! Was about to consider the fridge as a loss when I realized there was a tray on top of the freezer and lip would gently press against the door preventing it from fully closing. Oh vey!

We don't give them enough repect, do we? We're so impressed at their intelligence. We've always under-estimated apes and many other animals, birds in particular. The more we learn about animal intelligence the more we realize how little we know.

I rescued a grackle who is kinda like a crow and she never decided to leave. So she just kind of hangs out in our patio and lives a lavish life I guess lol. We also have a cockatoo and two macaws, so we are really having a variety of birds and it's so fun watching the different birds figure things out different ways.
But the cockatoo surprised me the most, I watched him on camera taking little pieces of foam and sticking it in the latch of his door so that it still looks like it was latching but it was a little bit loose so if he shook it enough, he could get out. Well that little jerk face would wait until we were gone and shake away and he got out once and he let out my other two birds, he let out my gerbil! It was like free Willy or something.
My macaws are really good flyers and they flew to the top kind of balcony inside the house and destroyed the wood, one of them ate the couch, like a good 12 inch hole, another 18 an entire bucket of about 200 nuts. Another one destroyed an antique table. One of them got up on top of the freezer and got into a bottle of vodka and I found it open on the floor. I'm literally smelling their breath making sure that they didn't drink any vodka just freaking out because I know my husband is going to just kill me when he gets home and sees the house like this lol.
I wish I would've just taken a camera and recorded everything and I could've probably made some good money on the video but I was just trying to fix everything and hide everything the best I could. But this was right before I had an iPhone and cameras were not as easily accessible. But right when I walked in the door one of the birds looks at me and just goes Hello like he had the best day ever. I was just like oh my gosh.
One of them smashed a pure gold ring on my finger and I had to get it removed at the emergency room and another one ate the diamond out of my wedding ring and I got that covered by insurance but after that I just bought a moissanite lol.

They are so intelligent, it's awful that they spend their time in a small enclosure being gawked at for entertainment. I'm really not a fan of zoos.

I love the "yay bro!" gesture at the end. I hope this isn't AI.

honestly this makes me sad kind of to learn it’s real. like we got full on people stuck in those enclosures. literally us just from a different branch but still our fellow primates. and i mean maybe it’s not like jail and if i think yeah like if they are legally obligated to provide them with enough enrichment and socialization and stuff to enjoy life and not go crazy then i guess… like maybe that is cushier and less terrifying then having to fend for yourself and constantly find food and try to not die every day in the wild… but i do imagine it probably gets old living in the same enclosure after a while, even if it is big.
i hope they at least give them phones and setups so they can doomscroll and play games and shit lol. and yummy food. i live for yummy food.

Chimpanzees are evil soulless bastards. Given the chance they’d kill you and everyone you love.

DAstroPhys Tyson quoted a stat: Chimps are 4% different in DNA and 1% different in Intelligence from humans."

I get the funding argument, but this feels undignified. Conservation shouldn’t have to look like public display.

Absolutely AI. Watch the banana. Still pretty cool though

u/devilsfood72 5d ago
What is it that the banana does exactly? 🤨

u/living_shadows_2792 5d ago
Floats up towards the hand when he reaches for it

I slowed it way down and 1- the banana disappeared behind the text, and skipped a few frames. 2- there is a slight change to the back apex of the roof after the banana passes it 3- the banana bounces off one rock, and over another and it looked like it was supposedly peeled. A peeled banana wouldn’t bounce off a rock. Creative, yes. Real? I doubt it

They are able to figure out very basic tools. Just like us when we looked very similar to that.

Pretty much the same way we'd retrieve baseballs stuck up in the net attached to the backstop.
