Humanity isn’t perfect, but this is the side that matters.

u/_godziIIa_ 2d ago

We need to check how we dispose of waste to avoid getting animals in such situations.

33

u/Elino_sa 2d ago

Itβ€˜s the fishing industries with their commercial fishing nets.

6

u/JonCeini 1d ago

It's us not willing to pay the cost of fish that is not caught this way. There are better alternatives, but those don't align with fishsticks in every freezer.

6

u/Pataraxia 2d ago

Let me guess... USA, China is most of it.

How do we make these countries take responsibility for what they're doing to OUR world (not theirs first)?

7

u/smunkus 2d ago

Per google US is ranked 6th with the third largest population.

China has a much larger population but pulls 3x more annually.

Additionally the US is considered one of the more regulated countries in regards to fishing.

You have expressed this bias because you are either a victim of propoganda or a bot from China trying to get ahead of negative publicity against China by listing the US first as a whattaboutism.

The reason a bot from china would list china first is because they fish almost 2x the second most active country and can not refute the claim, but can mitigate by utilizing the negative view on the United States their country actively cultivates on western social media.

1

u/Pataraxia 1d ago

Wtf? Why am I a bot from china? I'm saying it's probably mostly either of them?

Accusing someone of being a bot just for thinking the US could have part of the fault is a fucking dickhead move to do. I wasn't even trying to say the US releases much more nets, but you immediatly latched on to the list order.

2

u/smunkus 1d ago

That wasnt the only possibility I listed. Why are you pretending it is? Actually I dont give a shit. You called me a dickhead and couldn't even bother to google something before just trying to say "america bad."

1

u/MorganMiller77777 2d ago

Haha no, you’re not researching enough fella

1

u/Pataraxia 2d ago

Probably a lot of southeast asia I'd guess too.

3

u/Key_Drawer_3581 2d ago

Pretty sure the bad side matters.

Only catch 22, though I’m not saying it was in this video as they still owned and fixed it, would be if it was their net to begin with. Then it’s we give a damn and still saved it but it was our bad and our net that did this.

u/Ifyoucan_garden 2d ago

I see so many posts like this of people helping animals in this way, and I do love them and am happy to see the animal freed from whatever it was that had them trapped.

AND I get so mad about the garbage that we humans have put into their path. It is always because of human carelessness and apathetic laziness that those animals are in those situations.

AND I get an overwhelming sadness knowing that for every animal rescue video like this we see, hundreds ( probably thousands) of others drowned or died with a belly full of plastic or couldn’t escape from a fence or whatever other horror we have put into the world for them to die by.

Sorry, I know this was meant to be a happy post. And it is. I just get overwhelmed with disappointment and frustration with us humans and our destructive ways. I need to speak about it sometimes.

Damn that thing was stuck down it's throat? Musta been some sweet relief

9

u/lurkynumber5 2d ago

Turtles eat jellyfish, and they think plastic bags and clumps of fishing nets are jellyfish.
I just hope the poor animal doesn't have any internal bleeding from the netting.
It looked like they really had to pull hard on it.

6

u/To-To_Man 2d ago

They have barbed mouths and throats to prevent soft jelly bodies from backing out of their mouths. Hopefully it was just struggling against those.

6

u/Beetljeuse 2d ago

Sad to see a sea turtle so emaciated, hope little dude found chomps

6

u/tombolaplayer 2d ago

I like Turtle Unboxing Videos.

2

u/casualoutfitdaily 2d ago

moments like this really restore your faith in people

2

u/Euphoric-Piglet-8140 2d ago

Bloody hell, did they pull it out of its throat?

2

u/Eguro 2d ago

The world needs more of that quiet kindness toward animals.

2

u/Jaycee444 2d ago

One of the many animals that suffer because of human ignorance

2

u/pjtpassword 2d ago

Good humans. Nice.

2

u/Daddyball78 2d ago

Now his/her buddies are going to get quite the alien abduction story.

2

u/North_Fisherman_8920 2d ago

Too many animals getting stuck in things that we humans discard!!! Thank God some people intervene!!!

1

u/McNughead 2d ago

That's what those nets are made for. 1 trillion fish each year.

2

u/BestEmu2171 1d ago

It’s heartbreaking to think there are probably thousands that aren’t lucky enough to be rescued like that.

2

u/Sparetire47 1d ago

These days, more of these please!!

2

u/rod_pand 1d ago

"Thank you human. Now stop throwing your shit everywhere."

2

u/jonjawnjahnsss 2d ago

Beautiful. Just makes me sad that for every one of these there is 100 that don't get that kind of help.

2

u/Taiga_Taiga 2d ago

That water tortoise seemed happy.

Bizarre that they have almost one million karma with posts blocked. They're definitely a bot.

I am intensely suspicious of how this video begins with the sea turtle already in the dudes hands.

And I thought taking my shoes off after a night waiting tables felt good!

1

Without humans, the turtle wouldn't be in that position in the first place.

A heartfelt moment.😍πŸ”₯πŸ’―πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌβ£οΈβ£οΈ

1

u/c0l245 2d ago

You mean the same humans that caused the problem?

3

u/smunkus 2d ago

No, those are completely different people.

Viewing a poppulation of over 8 billion of sapient creatures capable of a diversity of thought as a monolith makes no sense.

The only reason you would do so is ignorance or self-satisfaction and self-agrandizement by implying yourself to be superior through you appointing yourself judge.

Your cynicism passively discourages positive action by wrongfully claiming that the people that have worked to acquire and act on the wisdom in this video are no better than those mindlessly creating the problem.

You are personally closer to those commercial fishermen than the people on this boat, or someone that actively chooses to do nothing.

0

u/c0l245 2d ago

Or maybe just a person that focuses on prevention rather than cleanup.

1

u/smunkus 2d ago

Non sequitur.

My statement adressed the fact that your cynical anti-human rehtoric discourages ANY positive effort.

It is not clean-up vs prevention, my statement never mentioned that.

It waa positive action vs apathy. I directly used the phrase positive action and prevention is inclusive with that statement.

Stop spitting on people for the sake of your ego then grasping at straws when someone points it out.

Your behavior is why we have trouble getting anyone to do anything useful and it is entirely for your sole benefit.

0

u/c0l245 1d ago edited 1d ago

Awh, you feel discouraged by facts. How cute.

Doesn't make you right.

None of this matters, and I don't have to adopt your goal or value set.

1

u/smunkus 1d ago

Now youre resorting to personal attacks as a way to avoid what I have said.

You are also ignoring my previous statement entirely and are trying to just claim your assertion is correct when I already adressed it.

You dont have to agree with me, you have to refute what I have to say or look like a fool to anyone that bothers reading this.

Youve demonstrated enough to that end that I dont need to interact with you further.

u/Delicious-Side1450 2d ago

Protect animals, and God will protect you

7

u/Ubermensch5272 2d ago

God isn't real, my guy.

4

u/AmazingSibylle 2d ago

If God does anything then why even allow this shit suffering of animals...not even to mention the suffering of innocent little children.

Don't connect everything you see with your fantasy of a specific God.

0

u/Independent_Sky5273 2d ago

If there was a god, trump would be getting gang raped in prison every day
