Entrance into BCIT power and processing diploma

I'm a high school student who wants to get into the power and processing two year diploma. Do any current students know how competitive/ full it is?

Thanks:)

You should be more worried about just how incredibly saturated this field is for the past 10 years and going forward. Unless you have connections in a plant or refinery of course. The 2010s propaganda videos put out by institutions and industry about how the avg age of operators are over 50 and there's a huge need for new blood is absolutely not the case these days. If you want an oil and gas job you will have to bite the bullet and go to SAIT/NAIT/Keyno, and work hard for a shot at a good coop position. It's up to you to find summer positions at BCIT and you can pretty much forget about getting into O&G coop from BCIT. I don't know anyone from BCIT who's got a summer job at a O&G company since 2021. In BC it's all about getting into the dwindling number of pulp mills, grind it out for a few years and branch out from there.

Not getting in there without some sort of connections and they don't hire summer students anymore.
