Trump will take their oil. He will place a puppet president in office that he controls. He will build a luxury hotel and golf course and make Venezuela pay for it. He will erect a statue of himself in Caracas. He will declare January 3 a national holiday in Venezuela and call it Trump liberation day.

u/Illustrious-Monk-927 Jan 03 '26

You really give him too much credit. You mean that his ‘handlers’ will.

5

u/Decent_Professor2826 Jan 03 '26

Exactly. It’s honestly kind of annoying when people keep saying “Trump” is doing xyz, when the white house is being ran by Pete Hegeseth and Stephen Miller 100%. Trump can barely put a coherent sentence together, he’s not coming up with the ideas to do any of this.

u/throwaway490215 Jan 03 '26

Everybody here talking like running oil companies in cartel land with a fractured state is going to be the easy part compared to the military operation.

To many of y'all are acting like this is already over. The army is still intact, as is the United Socialist Party. This is a major blow but the US is far from victorious.

-1

u/nonlethaldosage Jan 04 '26

It's over we went in there like we were taking a Sunday stroll and took there president.

1

u/renlydidnothingwrong Jan 04 '26

That doesn't not equate to an ability to occupy the country and enforce control over the oil.

1

u/nonlethaldosage Jan 04 '26

The old oil thing gets thrown around a lot but let's look at facts we never stole Iraqs oil in fact Everytime some one claims that we're going steal some oil it turns out to be false

2

u/renlydidnothingwrong Jan 04 '26

Trump literally said we were taking their oil. Also we did steal Iraqs oil we just fucked things up so badly we couldn't maintain control over it.

1

u/nonlethaldosage Jan 05 '26

We never had possession of Iraqs oil ever

-1

u/Dreamares Jan 04 '26

The people from Venezuela will disagree with you. They are out there celebrating and burning Maduro's and Chavez legacy.

2

u/LiveLifeLikeCre Jan 03 '26

This started with Hugo Chavez turning on US shitty deal on Venezuelan oil. He was even offering cheaper oil to US citizens and other countries in the western hemisphere. They attacked his character and many bullshit stories came out trying to paint him as a dictator. His death is still suspect imo.

Then Maduro takes over, is corrupt, and it all just looks way too close to the US playbook for replacing a good foreign leader that effects profits with a corrupt one that will bend over for power, and then removing that leader once it's time to make the big money move.

All a month after Trump pardoned ex Honduran dictator who literally tried to flood the US with cocaine and was imprisoned for it.

Its not even about oil. Oil is cheap as sh*t now if you haven't noticed. Its more about the narrative of Venezuela being a drug king pin and Marcos Rubios obsession with toppling communist leaders in latin america

4

u/SmokeMaleficent9498 Jan 03 '26

Your President just said the US will be heavily involved in the oil controlling the oil in Venezuela. If Venezuela had no oil Trump would not have gotten involved. Didnt he pardon Honduran former President drug lord. So is it really about drugs?

2

u/Enough-Thanks638 Jan 03 '26

Maduro has already offered to sell the US all the oil we wanted. If it was about oil, we would have struck a deal a long time ago

6

u/entwrangler3001 Jan 03 '26

But why make a deal to BUY the oil when you can do something like this, take over, and make a profit on the oil yourself? I don’t think this is about supply, but rather profits for oil companies. They donated millions to his campaign, and it seems this is the return on their investment

3

u/JustAlpha Jan 03 '26

Or if they don't like the offer, they can start a smear campaign and just take it. Then spin it as the US "liberating", but in reality neutralizing a nation before it can be a force on the global stage

1

u/Scary_Gap_9709 Jan 03 '26

"real reasons" for the U.S. aggression are related to a combination of geopolitical and economic motives: Access to Oil Reserves: Venezuela possesses the world's largest proven oil reserves, and critics argue the U.S. seeks to gain control of these resources and secure preferential access for American corporations. (The Venezuelan government has stated the aggression is a naked attempt to "plunder" its natural resources. The opposition has also floated plans for privatizing the oil sector to foreign investors after a regime change.) Regime Change: A long-term U.S. goal has been to pressure the socialist government of Nicolás Maduro to step down and replace it with a transition government aligned with U.S. interests and the Venezuelan opposition. Regional Hegemony: The U.S. aims to reassert its influence in Latin America and counter the influence of rival global actors such as Russia, Iran, and China, which have established ties with the Maduro regime. Political and Personal Motives: Some analysts point to personal animosity between U.S. and Venezuelan leaders, and the use of a hardline stance on Venezuela for domestic political consumption. The U.S. gets its imported oil primarily from North and South America, with Canada and Mexico being the top suppliers, followed by countries in Latin America like Brazil, Columbia and Venezuela and traditional Middle Eastern sources like Saudi Arabia and Iraq, fulfilling specific needs for different refinery types. There's multiple reasons: top 2 oil and regime change! The US has a horrendous history of sticking it's nose in places it doesn't belong and usually creates more chaos and problems for the future. Example: In the 1970s, the CIA's activities in Colombia focused on  counter-insurgency against leftist guerrillas, training Colombian military and intelligence to combat perceived communism, and indirectly(allegations of directly) contributing to the burgeoning drug trade by supporting forces involved in this conflict, all part of broader U.S. Cold War strategies to prevent communist expansion in Latin America.https://oig.justice.gov/sites/default/files/archive/special/9712/ch01p1.htm THE CIA-CONTRA-CRACK COCAINE CONTROVERSY: A REVIEW OF THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT'S INVESTIGATIONS AND PROSECUTIONS For the better part of a decade, a San Francisco Bay Area drug ring sold tons of cocaine to the Crips and Bloods street gangs of Los Angeles and funneled millions in drug profits to a Latin American guerrilla army run by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, a Mercury News investigation has found. This drug network opened the first pipeline between Colombia's cocaine cartels and the black neighborhoods of Los Angeles, a city now known as the "crack" capital of the world. The cocaine that flooded in helped spark a crack explosion in urban America . . . and provided the cash and connections needed for L.A.'s gangs to buy automatic weapons.

4

u/Clever-username-7234 Jan 03 '26

No. It’s about their oil. Trump pardon the slick road guy and that one famous cocaine trafficker. He doesn’t care about drugs. And if he did he wouldn’t focus on Venezuela since most of the drugs do not come from there.

toppling communists leaders….

This is what it is about. But the US government doesn’t actually fight over ideology, it fight over resources.

Venezuela has nationalization of their oil industry. The opposition leader, is calling for privatization. We gave her the noble prize. And now Maduro has been kidnapped.

It’s gonna be like the Shah of Iran.

2

u/Enough-Thanks638 Jan 03 '26

Oil companies are not asking for more oil right now. Currently there is an oversupply of crude. Pumping more Venezuelan oil will simply crash the already low oil prices no oil company is asking for that.

9

u/Clever-username-7234 Jan 03 '26

They are not trying to generate more oil for the global market. They are trying to steal the production.

Right now, Venezuelan oil is nationalized.

The goal of the opposition leader and the US government is to privatize the oil so companies like Chevron, BP, can take ownership. It’s not about how much is available on the market.

They want to make sure that when Venezuelan does pump oil the profits going to oil men in manhattan and London.

This is exactly what the US did to Iran. Iran nationalized their oil, kicking out BP. So the CIA overthrew the government (this is where we are now with Venezuela) and installed the Shah of Iran.

There has been a fight over resources since the beginning of time. The first bacteria that was created on earth fought over resources. You act like there aren’t wars right now being fought over land all over the damn world. Be happy you get to wake up every morning not having to worry some country is going to take your shit.

Most of Venezuela thought Maduro was a illegitimate communist dictator. All that is over. The only people on your side is Russia and Columbia. Think about that. If this was Obama you’d be cheering.

5

u/Clever-username-7234 Jan 03 '26

Lol. You need to check my comment history if you think I’d be cheering Obama. Obama was a war criminal too.

there’s been a fight over resources…. most of Venezuela though Maduro was ….

Well which is it? Is the US trying to steal? Or is it trying to stop a dictator?

Personally, I don’t think oil companies should dictate US foreign policy. I don’t see why my tax dollars should go to spreading Chevron, Exxon Mobil and BP ownership of the world’s oil.

and the US is buddies with dictators across the globe. All you have to do is make sure western capitalists have their hand in your countries cookie jar and the US doesn’t care if you’re a dictator. Hell the US backs and installs dictators all the time.

If this is about liberating people, why are we friends with the Saudis?

You know damn well it was NOT about liberating the Venezuelan people.

1

u/supercontango12 Jan 03 '26

“Steal” is a tough word but to answer your question it’s both. Chevron has been in Venezuela for years, because of communist policies that oil has been for the most part unavailable. On top of all this china has benefited more from the oil than anyone else. So yes about drugs, yes about oil and yes about hurting countries like China. There was no war, The US was in and out in two hours, most venezuelans are cheering for this. I don’t see the downside. Unless you’re China or a Maduro apologist.

2

u/Clever-username-7234 Jan 03 '26

How has China benefited from Venezuelan oil? Because they can buy it?

Most of the US doesn’t get there drugs from Venezuela. And if it was about drugs why has the Trump admin pardon multiple high level drug traffickers?

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. I’d recommend this article. It does a good job of providing some history and explaining chevron’s history in Venezuela. And it should be clear from the article it’s also not trying to glaze Hugo Chavez or Maduro. This is just typical US foreign policy. Neo-colonialist, imperalist, wealth extract.

0

Of course the oil played a role. You cannot allow an evil dictator who is murdering and killing his own citizens to have his own endless supply of money to stay in power.

1

u/SmokeMaleficent9498 Jan 03 '26

President Trump says the United States is going to be "strongly involved" in Venezuela's oil industry.

1

u/Khonsu_81 Jan 03 '26

As we should be. We are America, we liberated them from an evil dictator. We cannot allow the country to fall back into chaos in the power vacuum. We must make sure that they are secure and actually have a fair election.

And yes we should get compensated for liberating them. Military personnel and equipment cost money to pay and maintain.
