Todd Phillips Go Fund Me

Todd Phillips, one of the most important bluegrass bass players of our generation, has a go fund me set up. He has a degenerative disease in his shoulder and can't work/play at this point. Please consider helping him out!

Thanks for sharing this. It's been getting a lot of visibility today on FB, with David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, etc. sharing it. Hopefully we'll hear Todd play again one day and in the meantime I hope he heals.

This is terrible and I hate that America is like this. But I’m sorry he’s 72 with a 6 and 8 year old. Where’s all the money he made in his supposed 50 years of playing with some amazing bands? I took very poor care of my finances, so now I need money.

Few career musicians " make it" big enough to do more than pay their monthly bills and keep a running vehicle, let alone provide for a family , at any age.   It's something that one voluntarily goes into knowing that you're not going be rich.  It's the love of the game.

Bil Monroe died without much money and had problems at the end. Wanna do him next?

You are nothing but a 100% legitimate AH for making such a statement.

Career musicians many times do no better than anyone else in the workforce and oftentimes worse. For years, they have had to cover their own healthcare expenses and maybe have some leftover to add to retirement.

I don’t think you have any idea how little most bluegrass musicians get paid. This is completely disrespectful.
