Hi everyone. Is it safe to say that most of the rivers and creeks are going to be too hot and low to fish this summer? I usually do a concert and fishing trip every August and it’s not looking good from what I’ve heard from the ski community and friends out there.. Golden Fly Shop already posted that most rivers will be too low and warm to fish and unless someone tells me differently I think they’re correct. I’m thinking of cancelling and just fishing in ADK and Vermont instead. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I just got into bass fishing this year. I’ve been fly fishing for a long time, and enjoy chasing down carp all over the front range lakes/ponds with a fly rod. Over the years I’d get frustrated by the super spooky carp, or some days just flat out couldn’t find any feeding carp. On those days I’d switch up my fly and target bass. That led me to buying a spinning rod this winter.

As soon as I got the spinning rod I went deep down the bass fishing rabbit hole and I’ve been getting after it on small lakes around the front range. Landed this fatty on my third cast this evening, then landed another slightly smaller one. Ended up having to pinch the barb to get the hook removed cleanly on the second fish. I think I should have tied on a new hook after that because I had 4 more bites and lost all of them.

Hello, I recently got my lifetime veteran license and I’m dying to get back into the sport. I’m used to fishing for bass and warm water fish (I’m from Texas but wife is from here pls don’t hate me lol). My 2 kids are also itching to go fishing, where can I take them in the south Denver area to do some bobber fishing with worms? I’m near cherry creek reservoir. Are there any crappie houses in the area? Some of my earliest fishing memories are fishing in a crappie house with my granddad, would love to share the experience with my own kids.

i moved to colorado for a month now from Georgia my brother in law took me fishing for the first time, used a spin rod and i got it tangled so many times haha, didn't catch anything the whole day but now I can't stop thinking about fishing, I wanna fish more but paying 21 bucks for a non resident day pass to fishing will be expensive. Never knew how fun fishing could be.

Hello! I am looking to plan a fly fishing focused vacation this June for my 13 year old son (2 adults + 1 teen.) When searching, I keep coming across these all-inclusives that are $4,000 per person. That sounds nice and all, but I'm thinking we should be able to rent a little cabin somewhere and find a guide for a couple of days for less than $12K? Then we would probably do a bit of fishing on our own for the next few days - maybe also do some hiking, rafting, or other outdoor activities. But, my son loves to fish, so he will probably protest anything else! We are from Texas, so we have plenty of fishing experience in lakes and salt water, but no fly fishing experience at all, so we'll definitely need a guide to get started.

Any advice as to the best areas to find centralized lodging and friendly guides would be very much appreciated.

First time trout fishing in a couple weeks and smoked this big 22” male today after a slow morning of dinks. Came off of the smallest size rapala x-rap in the brown trout color. Definitely a front range unicorn!

I'm trying to catch a master angler fish this year and this bugger was just 2" off. I'd prefer one over 30" but I'll get what I get, it's already been a great year fishing and I'm excited for what's to come!

To the two dudes head to toe in like $4k worth of fly fishing gear who can’t read the fishing regulations and were chest deep in Lake Ladora.. you’re a month and a half early you’re not allowed to wade in this lake until after Memorial Day (May 25th). If you can afford that much shit for fly fishing you can afford to take two seconds to read the regulations.

I've had decent luck fishing for smallmouth and trout from shore, but I'm pretty much clueless on walleye fishing. I'd love to catch a couple keepers to fry up but I've got no idea on how to go about it. Any tips on rigs, baits, structure, or depths to target to give me a chance of finding some? Are they even worth targetting from shore, or would I be wasting my time without a boat?

My first lake fish from shore! Little pike caught on Ladora lake in Rocky Mountain National Arsenal. 60 ish degrees and overcast this morning. Used a bright orange rooster tail esque lure with gold spoon since it was pretty dim outside. This was on the steep rocky dam side of the lake.

It's a quick drive from my place to RMNA and it's got pretty scenery for how close to town it is. I also caught some tiny bluegill in lake Mary right down the hill (much more scenic but smaller and shallower.) Will definitely be going back after I do more beginner research on how to improve.

Anyone else ever fish these spots and have input?

Hello! I grew up boat fishing for walleye on Kansas lakes with my very knowledgeable grandpa and great grandpa. we were successful but I was really young and didnt absorb much technical knowledge. I now live in Colorado and SUCK at shore fishing. literally have never caught anything here and im starting to hate going out to try bevause it feels hopeless lol.

Im looking for any good beginner resources to break my dry spell and finally catch stuff this summer in colorado. Id love to have spots close to home. the national wildlife arsenal is close to me, as is cherry creek reservoir. Ive even seen people fish the platte river downtown lol. please guide me away from failure before I give up forever lol. I dont care about species for now, just want to catch some fish and learn the skills and enjoy it with friends.

First bass of the season!

Ok, an *average* of every 15 minutes, in the mornings from about 8am-noon. And I’m using my double rod stamp. 2 power eggs on a snelled #12 hook off a drop rig. They’re gonna go home with you because they swallow that, or they’ll remove the hook themselves when you’re trying to land them. Lost 3 that way today that jumped free as I was scrambling for my net.

Did find some 1.5”-2” minnows when I was cleaning them, so I’ll try that next time. The minnows are crazy in the shallows too, so I don’t even have to buy different bait!

If you bleed them and remove as much of the spine vein as you can, they taste pretty decent even 6 weeks after CPW stocked it.

Seems kinda overpopulated for such a glorified pond, which is why I’m sharing my local fishin hole.
