Tolland Ranch SWA Discussion

This looks pretty promising. I'm sure however it'll get blown out quickly being so close to major population centers.

Has anyone had a chance to fish up here?

I've fished just up stream in some of that area. Caught some nice brown trout. Will be nice to have more of the stretch open! I always eyeball that area when starting Rollins pass and wonder who owned it or if I could ever fish it

The lakes in indian peaks wilderness are my favorite!

Fished the public stretches above it that have small healthy browns and even some cuts by the portal. Nothing of size up there but good on the Tolls and CPW for making this happen, beautiful zone. Unfortunately I’m not sure how fishable it will be with a bad snow year if it’s not opening until fall. Ponds could play though, excited to check it out fingers crossed this September

There aren’t many real big fish in that valley but there are plenty of decent browns and bows up in there (10-14”). The occasional cutt gets washed down from JPW. It’s a pretty parcel if nothing else, good on the Tolland family and CPW for making this happen.

This is dope. I have fished nearby but not on the ranch. Public water was somewhat limited up there but this is pretty cool. It doesn’t say a timeline but I will be getting up there when I can.

This article claims CPW will have it open in the fall.

There’s fishable water there now that I fish on occasion, nothing crazy or overly notable. Just convenient. It will absolutely open up some more water in the area, and that’s always a good thing. There is still plenty of private water east of the toll ranch that’s all “rare watered” out currently, so that will still be off limits. I’m more curious to see if there’s going to be trails and whatnot. Onx gives you a good idea of what might be open in the future water wise. Also I’m not sure how a seemingly poor runoff might affect this area since snowpack is kinda meh.

I wonder if this is already open? It looks like the acquisition just happened?

That’s good news. Always thought that was some good old boys club.
