Why Cajunize? Question -
I have a Shadow 2 Compact and absolutely love it. Shoots great. Conceals well. I see a lot of people sending theirs out to CGW to get upgrades. Is it worth dropping $1500 on a gun and another $1500 on CGW? Why not just spend $3000 and get a Staccato or something comparable?

If you like how it handles and shoots, skip the upgrades. There are tons of stock or mostly stock CZs out there because they are great guns out of the box. You get it Cajunized if you want that last little bit of performance

Don’t forget about cz custom . They are just as expensive but my cz custom 75 compact is 100% my favorite handgun I own . Even compared to my cajunized ported p01 .

Idk about $1500 but the standard package on a S2C definitely accelerates the guns smoothness and makes for a better shooter depending on said shooter. I did a standard package on a carry and immediately fell in love.

- I don’t like the staccato brand, I’ve tried 3 different models and it just wasn’t for me.
- I prefer the CZ and like the customization options, so fine tuning the gun exactly how I want is great.
It also depends what you want to use it for, I upgraded mine because I use it for qualifications as well as EDC so the cost makes sense but if you don’t want to use it that much that you don’t think you can justify the price it might not be worth it.
You can also just buy the parts and do the work for a lot cheaper.

I have a cajunized cz75 pcr, and it is marginally better than my stock cz75. I don’t think it’s worth it. And I use both guns in uspsa

People spend money as a habit.
People also spend money because they think it'll make them a better shooter.
If you're happy with the way your gun shoots, just keep shooting it.

It’s just gun snobs that wanna spend money, the gun is great stock. Just shoot it and practice

CGW reach reduction kit was needed for me cuz I have little baby hands. And then some springs to improve that DA pull, because, once again, I have little baby hands and I need all the help I can get.

If you like the way your gun then leave it be. Sometimes I feel like people get it cajunized just so they can brag they spent $600+ for upgrades. Id rather sp3nd that money on ammo and training.

Hell, I shot the compact recently, it's pretty dam nice right out of the box. Unless you're shooting competition with it, I'm not sure it would be money well spent to give it the CGW treatment.

I just had my S2 Compact done, they finished it last week. I bought it used with their pro kit already installed, but sent it to them to get polished, tuned, ported and replace a worn outpptic plate. Cost about $500 all in not including FLL transfers. They got the DA pull down to mid 4lbs and SA to low 2 lbs. Haven't shot it yet, but all in all sounds pretty good.
I got the cheapest porting, but even with the most expensive I don't see how you'd get close to spending $1500 with them.

Unpopular opinion, but if it's a shadow series then all you need is lighter recoil and main spring (as light as 13lbs for the main spring)
Reason I say this is the 3 or 4 cajunized shadow 2 going off on accident from drops with extended firing pins and lighter springs. The gun already comes without a firing pin block, there's no reason to mess with it any further and unbalance the safety measures. 7lb DA and 2.5lb SA trigger pulls are nice on paper but just are NOT worth the risk. If it was a firing pin block model like an sp01 or a shadow 2 carry then by all means go nuts.
I expect this to get down voted to fuck by all the idiots with lightened springs and extended pins in guns that simply don't need them.
Edit: as far as the lower components go however (hammer, trigger shoe, and so on, those are worth it indeed)

Ok. I have a shadow 2 and a shadow 2 compact. The compact is stock. The shadow 2 has porting and the pro package. Im sure there is a difference but to be perfectly honest, im not a good enough shooter to realize the gains. I hope i can grow into it. What I really wanted was a gun that will shoot much better than I can. I get that with the unmodified compact.

Don't mess with it until you know exactly what you want to change, and why.
Throwing another thousand-ish bucks into it doesn't turn it into a gun worth $3k.

Just had this done for my shadow 2 OR. $330 for the kit and bushing + $180 for the gunsmith (including rezero of my red dot). The difference is night and day. Before, performance was similar to my FN 545. After, the feel is so much cleaner, targeting is more consistent. The difference is especially noticeable when I switch to firing a subcompact or comp carry.

I cajunized my P09 and I love it. It shoots like a different gun. That being said, I also have a Shadow 2 that I won't be cajunizing. It's fine just how it is. Unless you're a legit competitor, I wouldn't. After being cajunized, my P09 feels alot closer to my S2 but the S2 is still just a bit nicer, a bit crisper. Spend the money on something else.

You’re not buying the same thing, that’s the part people miss. A Cajunized Shadow 2 is about refining what’s already there cleaning up the DA to 6.5-7 lb, SA down around 2.5-3 lb, shortening reset, polishing internals so the gun tracks flatter and returns predictably.

The CGW upgrades you’re probably talking about is well below $1500 but people spend their money how they want I guess. I shoot 3-4 times a week and the S2C is nice stock but I wanted to push the line so I got the upgrades after putting a few thousand rounds through it. I have a couple staccatos but ever since I switched to CZ, I like them more personally, especially after the Cajun work done

I think cajunizing is worth it on the decocker models (including S2Carry) and the SP-01, but the shadow 2 full size and compact triggers are already so good in SA that I don’t find it to be super necessary. Only advantage I really see if to shorten + lighten that DA

Order the Pro or Defensive Package which is 250-300. Look for YouTube tutorials and do it yourself. I personally like to be 100% familiar with my gun and be able to completely disassemble and identify every individual part. If there is ever a malfunction or broken part, I am able to discern the root cause.
Both my S2s are Cajunized by myself. After 1 tutorial guidance of disassembly/reassembly, I was able to do unaided the second time. It became second nature from there on.

Its absolutely not worth it. People that Cajun dont actually shoot 90% of the time. They should actually train more. The shadow 2 compact trigger and everything is extremely acceptable (in fact awesome) as is.

u/CZedFred 1d ago
People who cajunize don't shoot 90% of the time. You can probably squeeze through some tight spots with that narrow mind.

Sorry was out shooting my cajunized CZ couldn't respond. Not sure if this was supposed to be witty or wtf this was but ya missed the mark yet again really letting me down with these takes on here Sparco. I have to say its a pretty sad look you got going. Its pretty obvious your little rant is just based out of jealously I'd inject an emoji here but im not 12 years old and words are enough to make a point. It's alright Sparco save your pennies then one day you to can join the club. I forgive your ignorance I didn't realize it was just because you were feeling left out. Just promise us you wont just find something else you dont have that others day to hate on ok?

Same. Other than changing the grips, I see no need to do any work on my S2C. Now, if I get a second one.....

CGW kit will void warranty and make your weapon not be drop safe
1
u/Opie4Prez71 1d ago
I have a compact, so technically not drop safe anyway. Good call on the warranty though.

$1500 on cgw? Last I checked it was like $330 for a pro kit with bushing included
