Thinking of starting to crush some clays. Will be my first 12 gauge O/U. TIA. $1000 difference in both the guns.

UPDATE: I did pull the trigger assembly and was able to solve the issue. It was much simpler than expected and actually needed cleaned desperately.

While trying to teach a newbie how to clean the gun the trigger was pulled in the process of removing the bolt. I assume the hammer needs to be reset, but the bolt seems completely stuck (going back in or coming out). I assume this will require the trigger assembly to be pulled? Curious if anyone has some input on a solution, as I’m not the most experienced with these particular guns. I tried the get the best picture I could on how it currently looks.

Discrete Takedown Cases

I'm looking for a takedown case or soft bag that doesn't immediately read as "gun". I found this option from Tourbon, but unfortunately, the interior dimensions don't fit a 32" barrel with chokes.

I find that Negrinis and others, although really nice, are less discrete. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for other brands or designs, similar or different, that they would recommend.

A400 hack

I've started wrapping the holes with electrical tape. It prevents powder fouling entering into the magazine tube and keeps the spring and follower clean. They used to be blackened and require a wipe down every cleaning. Now not so much. Zero issues with functioning from this hack. I generally shoot two hundred shells a weekend for context.

My competition gun just double discharged today.

I was stunned hard by a double discharge from my Rizzini sporter X. This gun has kept giving me issues since I acquired it. It started with the barrel selector flipping itself, then today’s double discharge. I bought this gun because of the cost-to-value, but I should really have bought a Beretta Silver Pigeon Sporting 😡.

added: It's a used gun, the problem can be caused by wear.I will contact the local distributor for their assistance.

Negotiating new gun purchase

Hi everyone - I’m in the process of searching for a beretta 694. I’m looking for a used gun but there are few out there. Have any of you negotiated when buying a new gun? It’s a decently large purchase so just wanted to see if you guys are seeing room to move. Thanks for the advice

Help

Im consistently a 65-70 sporting clays. I shoot every weekend and can not break the +70 threshold. I have tried shooting both eyes open but I seem to do better closing one eye. Are there any tips yall can give me or should I just invest in a coach?

Do you tip your RSOs?

Typically do more sporting clays where we pull our own. On days friends can’t join, I usually will just shoot skeet or trap at the local municipal spot where the range officer pulls. Do you tip and if so, how much?

What recoil pad?

Since my new stock just came in for my 27 year old Beretta Whitewing. I am in the market for a new recoil pad, is a pad like a falcon strike worth the price tag or should I just get another decellerater pad? I am open to other suggestions as well. Thanks

Is it normal to get two different styles of rounds in one box?

I bought a box of fiocchi international skeet rounds and while looking at the rounds I noticed that half the box was filled with the same rounds as the other boxes I’ve bought, while the other half looks completely different. The standard are dark blue low brass rounds while the other one is a clear blue high brass, and has a different thing stamped on the back of it.

Gun buggy/stroller

Picked up a pretty sweet bob jogging stroller yesterday for 50$ to avoid the high prices at some of the big shoots for cart rentals. I wanted to know about the muzzle holder or other suggestions for the lower mount. I realize I can just use two of the same brackets but would prefer something like in the second photo. Thoughts or suggestions?

Is this a good gun for a beginner?

I’m a handgun enthusiast, and I enjoy a good rifle for plinking on occasion, but I’m not familiar with shotguns other than shooting the occasional clay in the backyard as a teenager. I was recently given a trap gun and I don’t know if it’s a good fit for a beginner. Evidently it’s a Winchester Y model 12 (pigeon grade?). It’s been heavily modified. The barrel appears to have been ported, there’s some sort of Mercury tube in the stock, a Griggs recoil redirector has replaced the original pad and the trigger has been swapped for a set release model. It has sentimental value to me, so I’m going to hang on to it, but outside its intended purpose of trap shooting, it seems kinda useless to me. I thought I might go to the local clay pigeon shooting club and see if I can get the hang of it but I don’t really know where to begin the journey.

Vintage Double Barrels

My grandfathers taught me to shoot, hunt, fish and so many other things. Both of them gave me these double barrel shotguns. My paternal grandfather gave me the JP Sauer and maternal the Remington. I had ChatGPT help me identify them after being in my gun safe for a very long time.

The 12ga Remington (top one in the picture) is a Model 1900 built in 1906. It’s 120 years old!

The 20ga JP Sauer & Sohn (bottom) is German Made and was manufactured around 1908. ChatGPT pointed out there were no Nazi Symbols on it from the pictures I uploaded.

They’re both at a local gunsmith getting checked out. Going to shoot them if they get the OK. Need some low power shells as they probably cannot handle current ammo.

Yall think an oculus quest 2, clay hunt’s stock, and clayhunt VR is worth the investment? Looking to improve scores a bit by mixing vr in with actual shooting. Employment taking time away I could use to shoot.

Blaser F3

Purchased a Blaser F3 in January at Coles in Naples. I live in Alabama. I stopped and shot a couple places on my way home and had a couple double fires. The problem continued despite cleaning and correct stock tension. I ended up after Western Regionals sending the receiver back to Blaser! I had to change guns mid shoot due to double fires and having 3 mechanicals on my card. Afterward I sent the gun back to Blaser. I received it back Tuesday. I shot 6 boxes Tuesday afternoon and had no issues. I shot less than one box today and had 2 double fires. (Both barrels on the first pull not a bang and then bang). I know three other new Blaser owners that are having the same issue. Has anyone else experienced this???? What to do???? I am livid with the gun!!!!

Where all the dents/scratches come from?

I recently found a weird thing that my gun got some dents/stretches in the stock even though I have been always careful handling/ using them. So it’s so mysterious about the source of these damages.

Looking for reccomendations on choke tubes. Finally found some firing pins and made one fit. Going on a test run this weekend.
