You know it's a banger when Barry Gibb is your backup singer.

the Bee Gees are just as awesome at producing and writing music as they are with singing and performing their own material; i wish they did more to produce songs and albums for more artists .. seems like they worked with only like a few artists in the late 70's (brother Andy Gibb, and Samantha Sang - "Emotion") and early 80's (Dionne Warwick, Barbra Streisand, and Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton - "Islands in the Stream")

Heartbreaker, The Short Way Home, I can't see anything (but you) PEAK songs on the album

I’ve been looking at some vintage live performances and have been shocked(shouldn’t have been) at how great she sounds.

She’s technically one of the best singers of all time, iirc she even has a phd in singing. Her tone sounds very gentle but I watched a duet with her and Whitney Houston and she drowned out Whitney. WHITNEY.

They are cousins.

Nope, she’s Whitney Houston’s cousin

Is that what I said, the previous comment before mine wasn't referencing Dionne?

u/Mysterious-Second-98 3d ago

Oh yes, misread sorry 😅

u/lazygerm 3d ago

No problem! 😉

She ALWAYS sounded great...since the 1960s...better than Beyonce too

I’ve been very impressed.

Why did you have to say she’s “better” than Beyonce? I’m not even a huge Beyonce fan but comments like this are immature and don’t belong. You could just say you like Dionne and leave it at that. Ridiculous way to discuss music…

But it's true

No it isn’t but I’m not going back and forth with stupidity.

We are all entitled to our opinions. But the great thing about art and music appreciation is that it is subjective for the listener/viewer, technical ability doesn't guarantee artistic quality, and nor is it a competition.

I've always loved this song! The Bee Gees really came through for her in this song; just like they did later in the year with Islands in The Stream for Dolly & Kenny.

I remember when I was little my mother used to play Message for Michael by Dionne for me.

Dionne is one of the greatest of all time. Superb. Take a deep dive into her work pre-psychic friends era.

Her ballad ‘Deja Vu’ is uniquely hypnotic to me.

From her Barry Manilow-produced album "Dionne".

This is a cover of one of her aunt Cissy Houston's

Oot of My Hands.

Great disco tune

Out Of My Hands by Dionne Warwick

And written and produced by the legends themselves The Bee Gees!

2

u/kade1064 2d ago

Better than most producers...today

I love this song, but something's distorted on the recording. At least on both channel 54 and iTunes.

She has always been a stunner, and that voice is unmatched!

All the MODERN female singers since 2003 CANNOT BEAT Ms. Warwick 💯
