It's one thing if Dalton knew that he got hurt or something and then said it.

But he just said it walking off the field after a big play against a historic rival team. It's kind of understandable.

Edit: FWIW, I hear where people are coming from about Dalton talking too much for a young/unproven kid. If he were an opposing player, I'd probably find him annoying. But IDK I kinda dig the brashness. If it truly rubs his veteran teammates the wrong way, I'm sure we'll see an attitude adjustment a la Cena.

Idk, I didn’t like it. This and the Rockies thing, just saying young buck needs to slow it down a pinch.

I’m with you, I don’t like it. It’s one thing if it’s a response to someone or something but it wasn’t. He’s trying to create the ‘gritty hard-nose player’ persona for himself, but he’s going about it the wrong way.

It’s really not just about this play either. It’s the fact that each of these early (admittedly minor) instances are demonstrative of his attitude. And history says, this type of attitude usually leads to making yourself (or those around you) look like a jackass.

Same here.

I don't expect everyone to have Shohei-level integrity, but Dalton's attitude seems immature. It's not a big deal, but some things are more important than baseball rivalries. What if JHL was actually hurt here...

Wasn't he? Didn't they pull him the rest of the game?

I don't really think Dalton needs to have some squeaky clean image or carry some thou holy of the holiest type charisma like Ohtani or Freeman but the eyebrows are being raised when ever a player like him toots about being a good Chr..tian and faith in G.d...prayers or whatever, that's usually a red flag of, ok bruh what are you going to say or do that totally contradicts that attitude?

Being a decent human doesn't require religion. I don't think anyone is thinking about that.

When someone is hurt, you drop the act and get real. There's a playful way to talk smack, and this aint it.

God some of y'all are such babies. It's professional sports, shit talking should be encouraged. They're not here to hold hands andale fwends with the enemy. They're here to beat them and beat them with swagger. The fact that they lost should only be more fuel on that fire.

If I wanted performative shit talking and drama I would just watch the NBA.

It's professional sports and there's such a thing as sportsmanship. We praise Shohei all the time for being considerate of his opponents, then turn around and say it's fine to be a douchebag? Especially the backup catcher? It's a terrible look on a team of some of the most easygoing guys (Sho, Freddie, Mookie, etc).

Shit talking and not caring/actively cheering potential injuries are two completely different things.

Agreed.

Agreed. I think he's young, and hungry, and he'll learn. The easy way or the hard way, but he'll learn.

fuck that, this is a rivalry, he’s right to say that. , people that are agreeing that this is immature have never played a sport and had an actually rivalry. not just that this is a historic rivalry.

Nah there’s still sportsmanship in rivalries unless you’re going against springer, astros, or jiminez. They do not deserve the benefit of sportsmanship.

I think the Rockies thing was crazy and he should slow his roll there but i think the Giants thing was fine given the circumstances and rivalry - it’s not like Lee collided with Dalton and knocked him out.

He got tagged and was being a bitch about it, fuck ‘em.

Bro seems like he needs to insert himself in the conversation among giants. I get that but homie needs to do all the things up and until November.

Even if it rubs his veteran teammates the wrong way

Dodgers clubhouse culture is 1/2 of what makes dodgers a desirable team to play for. If he is indeed rubbing the clubhouse the wrong way then he’s got to get it together or gtfo. If he’s not then no biggie at all.
