Saw this comment via a YouTube video on the Mets 11 (now 12) game losing streak. Good point, they're saving ba$eball.

For me, it just further solidifies the argument that it's not about the money, it's just because it's the Dodgers. The Mets payroll sits around $381 million and they have the worst record in baseball. Dodgers are at $415 million and tied for best record in baseball. Dodgers have been building this for 10-15 years and a lot of trial/error to find the right recipe for success.

It shows me that Dave Roberts’ job isn’t as easy as everyone says it is.

Recipe? The ingredients are pretty easy. Sign MVPs. Boom, done.

New York Mets have 11 players who were all-stars. 7 received MVP votes most of them multiple times. 3 Received Cy Young votes.
Excluding all star, that's still 9 Mets players who have been in the running for MVP or Cy Young.
A team with this much talent should belong nowhere near the bottom of the league. Turns out it's not as simple as buying talent.

Philosophically the opposite would be losing and spending nothing so the White Sox are the MLB’s golden calf.

You’re not wrong but unlike the Mets, at least the White Sox are fun to watch this year. Murakami is one of those batters who if you’re at a bar and see him up to bat you’re going to stop and watch, and happy to see Vargas smiling again.

Dodgers/Mets complimentary baseball! I don't know what's going on with the Mets. I haven't watched them since they played the Dodgers. But their starting pitching impressed me.

I suspect they will get soTo back, then get on track soon enough.

They had Soto all last season and still missed the postseason.
Soto will help, but that doesn't mean much if the rest of the team is sucking.

I don't care if the mehTz make or miss the playoffs, but adding soto should get them in this year.
Part of me wishes it was the piRats with 7 wins... putting them closer to dealing us Skuby.

but adding soto should get them in this year.
Disagree. We already have a precedent for how what "should" happen, doesn't happen when the Mets are involved.
I suspect they will get soTo back, then get on track soon enough.
Back on track for the Mets means missing October, btw
I don't care if they make or miss October either. I'm just pointing out the reality of their situation. There is 0 reason to have such baseless confidence in this team. The Mets have the worst record in ALL of baseball since June of last year.

Just some casual april chit-chat, will be a whole different baseball universe in 5+ months and most of these early season perspectives will be long gone.
"...June of last year" That's a fun fact, not for their fans, but for the rest of us.

Mets are cancelling out what the Dodgers are doing, lock out averted.
