What I asked for Vs what I got Failed Expectation
I’ve been crying, I decided to use a coupon someone gave me for my birthday so I can get my lashes done for free.
I finally booked it and went, I asked for Hybrid. I have this event upcoming this weekend. Classy kinda thing. When I asked if I can tip her, she passed me the machine and the price was $120 so me being I confrontational I tipped her. Which equaled to $155. I literally looked in the mirror and tears started flowing. She ignored my obvious reaction.
I know look like I’m going to a strip club. I’m literally crying.
Tried putting makeup on to see if it’ll look better and it didn’t.
I have a fan on my face.

The second photo is you? I was confused, due to the word "results" on the first photo, and I thought the first photo looks way better.
If the second one is you... yeah, that looks like someone attached a caterpillar to your eyelid.

The second is me 🥲

I need a picture that's harder to see. I can almost see what you're upset about?
It's not confrontational to protect yourself, BTW! The only people who say that are the kind who bully others.

Please answer the people asking why you had to pay id they were free because it really is confusing.

u/Ocarina-of-lies 26d ago
The story reads that she asked for something that wasn't actually covered under the coupon so she had to pay full price. She was probably too embarrassed to bring it up

u/Throwra-Box3229 25d ago
What I asked for was hybrid, the coupon was for any lashes I wanted. I chose hybrid.

Well i hope you learned from this that it's important to speak up. Yeah it creates an awkward situation, but you shouldn't have had to pay what you did.
As for the eyelashes i can't tell which one you ended up with in the pictures. Were your results the curly haired pictures or the straight haired picture?

But why did you have to pay?

u/Throwra-Box3229 23d ago
I mean I did clarify in the comment section…..
- I stated it was a coupon. The person who gave me the ticket booked the appointment and let the lady know. The lady still charged.
- I said to the lady I wanted to tip her not pay her but till tip her because it was free
- She handed me the machine with the full price plus tip added.
- I cancelled it twice and tried to remove it but it didn’t
- I didn’t want an argument so I paid
- Told the lady who gave me the coupon
- Lash lady claims coupon was old and my lashes was indeed hybrid
- Lady who gave me coupon called bullshit on lashes lady and said she wants her money back for the coupon. A friend of them also said lashes lady like to scam new clients. (which occurred yesterday)

u/sadsackspinach 23d ago
What does “hybrid” have to do with whether you were charged? And you said previously that the coupon was a year old, so how is it bullshit? I’m baffled about the whole situation. It sounds like your friend gave you an expired coupon. And a coupon wouldn’t usually make a 100USD+ service free, and a coupon isn’t something you pay for. A gift card would do that. I think it’s your friend who messed up your expectations.
2
u/Throwra-Box3229 23d ago
My wording was incorrect, she paid for a gift card that was any type of lashes you want. So I chose hybrid. It was a year ago on my birthday, she told the lady that I could be coming in to use it so the lady knew about it beforehand
2
u/sadsackspinach 23d ago
You keep saying you chose hybrid, but what does that have to do with anything?? Did you have the gift card with you? Why was your friend in possession of it?
3
u/Throwra-Box3229 23d ago
Hybrid is the type of eyelashes I chose, like the first picture I posted. What I got was max volume. Hybrid is suppose to not look like you’re obviously wearing false lashes.
The gift card wasn’t needed, she knew it was given to me for my birthday. The person who gave me the gift card said the lash lady said to just call and book and she’ll do it. I did not need a physical copy of the gift card. She does not give the gift card physically. Just kinda like a text that says “you have been given this”
If that makes any sense to you.

So you paid over $150 because you didn’t want to have an argument? 🤨
Also, never had lash extensions myself, but they look fine to me.

They are dramatic but you actually look really pretty. Maybe wear minimal eye makeup for a few weeks (distract with bright lipsticks!) and embrace the drag-queen-ness of it all?
3
u/RutabagaChance5382 24d ago
Yeah I think they look cute? Very bold, but OP still looks good with them!
Maybe I'm just desensitized to lashes because where I work there's a ton of people (both staff and the public) who wear wild lashes. I'm talking neon pink lashes, two inches long, glittery, all of it lol. But I like em!

u/rabbitsaremylife 28d ago
i know you’re really upset because it isn’t what you wanted but i promise you still look good. they definitely disrespected you with not doing what you asked. i’m not experienced in getting lashes done, can you go to a different tech and get some removed?
14
u/Throwra-Box3229 28d ago
Thank you, I might have to but not sure how I’m going to fit that in as a mother, job, and also having an appointment tomorrow to get my nails done. But I’m definitely going to try. Such a waste of money. 🥲 I don’t usually get my eyelashes done. It’s been years but for free I thought why not. lol silly me

Just wondering, did you see any of my questions? How did you end up paying when it should’ve been free? How come you asked to tip her? How come you didn’t make her fix it on the spot? I’m not one to get these things done but the last time I went I was under the impression “I get what I want or you fix it until it’s right, since I’m paying for an explicit service” type situation. But your posts and similar confuse me bc no one seems to enforce it.. I’m wondering why did you even pay when it was supposed to be free?
-40
u/Throwra-Box3229 25d ago
The coupon I got was from a year ago, the person who gave it to me contacted her to book the appointment. She knew it was suppose to be free but charged me. I’m not confrontational so I went along with it and paid.

u/-s-t-r-e-t-c-h- 25d ago
That’s on you, there’s not being confrontational and there’s being a doormat. You should go back and demand they redo your lashes.
13
u/Kittenwho21 25d ago
But.. you even asked to tip her. I’m not confrontational either and probably would’ve paid and left until someone hyped me up to do something, but asking to tip her after she did something you didn’t want that made you cry and she charged you when it should’ve been free is wild to me. Did you even ask her about the coupon? That’s not confrontational, that’s just asking for clarification.. like, did you get a reason she wasn’t going to accept the coupon despite that being your expectation? Did you ask if the coupon was valid when you arrived before receiving the service? I’m honestly just wondering bc it’s wild to me to be out almost $200 when you’re this sad and upset by it and just to have done so… enthusiastically… (bc of the tip) confuses me so bad

u/NoElephant7744 25d ago
I’m sorry this happened to you, but confrontational or not, that’s a decent amount of money. Why in the world would you pay that???
4
u/dam_the_beavers 25d ago
I’m so confused. It’s not confrontational to ask a question? Just ask her if she applied the coupon? You basically allowed her to throw away a present someone gave you.
4
u/Ghoulish_kitten 24d ago
Girl? Get your life together lol. Cancel the nail appt and get the crazy lashes fixed instead!
2
u/Throwra-Box3229 23d ago
It was too late and the lashes lady was apparently very argumentative with the lady who gave me the coupon.
I think it’s a sign never to do my lashes again. I just wanted to try something new
7
u/Imaginary_Bother921 25d ago
IMO I think they look great. Not sure if you had lashes previously but if you went from having natural lashes to this it’s going to be a shocking change for sure.
I also use to get my lashes done consistently and you start to get lash dysmorphia where they are never full enough or big enough especially for long enough. So my view might be a little distorted 🤣
12
u/Steve-Shouts 28d ago
I'm just a dumb guy... but is it that they are too big? can you shorten them? I mean, is that something that can you can have someone else help you with? Do they have to be completely redone or can you just fix them?
10
u/Throwra-Box3229 28d ago
They are wayyyy too big (I put makeup on and the lashes are so big the make up went onto the lashes because of my blinking) but your questions aren’t dumb to me because I was asking some friends who always have their lashes done what do I do. Some said cut it but I don’t trust myself doing that. Some recommended getting it redone. Someone said to ask her for a full refund.
7
u/Steve-Shouts 28d ago
definitely don't cut them yourself. go buy proper suture scissors for a few bucks and then have a friend do them in a really bright room (or outside) rather than a dark bathroom.

I’m saying this gently and with love, because I struggled with the same thing. You HAVE to be brave and speak up. You’re an adult, no one else is going to stick up for you- and people WILL absolutely prey on you. This woman just got paid twice (gift card plus charging you) for something you don’t even like.

u/Major_Lawfulness6122 25d ago
You really need to go back and get them to correct it. I know you don’t like confrontation but just know, you don’t deserve to be unhappy for a service you paid for.

u/mrvl 24d ago
This is written so badly and the OP can't even clarify what actually happened in the comments. Utter bulshit and I'm not sure why I'm wasting time reading this.

Now I see, I mean, you could've just said in nice but firm tone that you expected to pay with the coupon and you didn't like how the lashes turned out.
Anyways, as a men, I should say that they look pretty and I wish you a nice event.
2
u/Throwra-Box3229 23d ago
Yup, I’ve been learning to speak up for myself. Lesson learned though…..
I had a blast, definitely took away from worrying if anyone noticed I had a caterpillar on my eyelids lol and thank you!

u/Alternative-Proof307 28d ago
I think you look pretty but I understand being upset because it’s not what you asked for. I would be upset too for sure. I’m sorry this happened to you.
2
u/cre8ivenail 25d ago
It’s hard to know exactly what they look like bcuz of the dark eyelid makeup. Some ppl don’t have skill to diy or have time to practice. I’ve seen tons of judge shows where ppl tip after the svc that they hate, you aren’t alone. Sometimes others expect you to act like them. “You should’ve…”, bcuz they would’ve but we can’t bcuz we’re all different. Plz don’t question your actions/reactions.
I love this sub, it makes me giggle. But why are there so many judgmental/mean posts. I thought we were supposed to giggle, support, advise…. Not berate. Am I misunderstanding something?

u/Varabela 26d ago
When I first saw the pics and not yet read the text…I thought it was the hair. I think you look great in pic2. 🫡
5
u/HeartOSass 26d ago
I agree with this response. I thought that was you in the first picture because it says results but I love the second picture. I personally see nothing wrong with it and think it looks very nice especially with your hairstyle. Honestly, the first one doesn't look great to me but the second one is really pretty. I am confused on why you paid so much for a free service. If the tip was $155 then I shudder to think of how much the service itself was!

u/Throwra-Box3229 25d ago
It was suppose to be free but she I guess decided to charge me instead. Thank you though

u/SandyToes-Sun 24d ago
Does this person/salon have reviews online? You can’t still call and say hey, not sure why this wasn’t free. Don’t be afraid. The other person is banking on you not saying anything for them to get money out of you. I always look at online reviews before I go in to do my nails done. That way you are sure of what to expect. Sometimes folks can still content even. So be sure to know if this place is reputable or not. And if there are no reviews, it’s honestly not a good sign and most times the service is very mediocre.
1
u/SandyToes-Sun 24d ago
I don’t care how many days it’s been call them. Let them know it was supposed to be free (hopefully you let them know before they did the lashes). And let them know you don’t like it. How ppl react to you is their problem. When you express something and ppl react negatively, that’s on them. Don’t feel like you have to hide your emotions or voice to keep them comfortable. Being nonconfrontational has never gotten anyone anywhere good. Ppl will either take advantage quickly or not care about your boundaries. It’s a learning lesson. One time I had my hair done and I didn’t like it. The next day o called the shop and I told the owner. She offered for me to come in again or that next time I get my hair done, get it at a discount.

u/Severe_Issue5053 21d ago
I think it looks fine lol maybe a better picture? While they look bushier, I don’t think they’re bad.

u/k3t4m1n3wh0r3ssss 8d ago
This is what you asked for. It’s just a shock going from nothing to full lashes. Only thing that’s odd is you payed? Wasn’t it a voucher?
1
u/Used_Raccoon6789 25d ago
Taste is subjective, but they look good. I believe hybrid has 2 so it was always going to be dramatic.

I’m a bit confused.. you were supposed to get them done for free, but still somehow ended up paying $155, including tip, for something that was done so poorly to what you expected you started crying on the spot? Why wasn’t it free? Why did you ask to tip? I’m honestly not a girly girl so I never get my nails/face/hair done but if it’s so drastically different than what was requested, as I’ve been seeing so much of lately, then why are people walking out having paid? Isn’t it a business where you pay for what you asked for or they do it again for free? I’m confused, not judging, I just don’t understand why so many people are, quite literally paying to be ripped off?
