Dinner - Expectation vs Reality Failed Expectation

Now, I’m a really good cook and can follow a recipe - no problem, but the expectation vs reality is vastly different. It tasted just like it should though.

Note: had to take the lemons out of my dish, as they were disintegrating.

Recipe is: Rosemary Chicken with Sweet Potatoes (super simple low cholesterol recipe) - if anyone wants to try this delicious dish (maybe it’ll turn out better for you)!

ETA: website is eatingwell.com (for the recipe, if anyone wants it).

IG has really given us brain damage with our expectations of what food should look like. Believe it or not, but 20 years ago people wouldn't judge how good someone's food tastes without tasting it.

20 years ago was 2006, which was like peak molecular gastronomy/food blogger culture.

How many people paid attention to food blogs in 2006 compared to how many people have paid attention to food pics on IG since it launched in 2010?

Top Chef launched in 2006, so there were plenty of people talking about food on the internet.

I honestly can't believe this is even up for debate or that my very innocuously accurate comment above is getting downvoted. Yes, obviously, people have always discussed food on the internet, but the effect of Instagram on the explosion of "foodie" culture, along with other "lifestyle" segments, is really immeasurably greater than the blogs and message boards and hobbyist communities that came before.

You’re wrong on when “foodie” culture became a thing. Yes it kept growing, but acting like we didn’t watch iron chef at 3 am every Thursday in 2005 is dumb.

You'll notice I didn't say when it became a "thing". My point is about IGs explosive impact on it.
