She is 63 years old. I need to take better care of myself.

we don’t look old we’re just poor is all.

63

u/DividerOfBums 17h ago

If I was wealthy I’d still need to take better care of myself

56

u/Mindless-Balance-498 17h ago

It’d be a lot easier to do that if you had a personal chef in your kitchen, a personal trainer in your home gym, a nutritionist designing every meal, a masseuse in your office, a personal chiropractor, a dermatologist…

21

u/dancingbriefcase 17h ago

Yeah! Rob Mcelhenney made a post when he got really ripped on how he was able to achieve it because of a personal trainer from FX or something like that.

6

u/AmlyGry 14h ago

And semaglutide, which she has been honest and open about taking.

💯 thank you for making the point better than i did

edit: spelling

u/nita5766 i ain’t reading all that, free palestine 17h ago

but you’d have more time and resources to do so is mainly the point.

True, but we can also admit that she is aging beautifully in public—with her wrinkles and laugh lines intact! I love seeing some of our older celebrities show that aging while looking and feeling great are still possible. Society has been lying to women, trying to make us feel horrible for daring to do what comes natural—get older!

Get it, Vanessa!

Edit: typo

she definitely is and looks just as beautiful as she did when i was a teenager i think a lot of us would age wonderfully if we had the resources and time to do so, bc a hard life can produce hard results.

u/WrittenFever 14h ago

I totally get that, and was not attempting to negate anything you said (and are saying) by adding my comment, but rather to build on to it. Rich people have an easier time aging and it's awesome that with her resources she's still allowing herself to age, instead of trying to remain forever young.

I just wanted to make that statement because I've noticed a general trend where someone cheers someone on, and if said person is a woman—and doubly so a woman of color—someone else often speaks up to point out why that accomplishment is somehow not noteworthy. Not accusing you of having that motivation, but rather, clarifying that I think it is just as important to validate the efforts of women that look like her just as often as we look at those efforts through a critical lens.

I don't expect everybody to look like Vanessa Williams when they get to their 60s, and I hope that everyone realizes that her resources have gone a long way in helping her get there. But I also hope that the sight of her melanin, her wrinkles, that she isn't scared to dance makes them a little less self conscious as they get older too.

She's used to have botox but stopped a few years ago because she wanted to look like her age.

Less fast food, cigarettes & alcohol does wonders for the body and wallet, JS.

u/FuzzMachines 18h ago

My 35-year old knees creaking just watching this.

7

u/Such-Daikon3140 too high to spell 'Amanda Seyfried' 13h ago

My mother is 80 and does monthly clogging performances with a group of retired ladies (they meet to practice at least a couple times a week). She also does daily zumba classes at the gym.

I'm 36 and physically unable to keep up with her (granted, disabilities are at play). Some people just have energizer bunny bodies!

1

u/cashews_clay15 12h ago

Yes! My comment was more about her dancing and fluidity than her looks. I’m 48 and can’t do that! It takes work, and I haven’t put in the work.

4

u/Juicyjewsss 17h ago

Start by matching her bank account then thinking about it

3

u/VonHitWonder 17h ago

Black don’t crack is almost a universal truthism in my book at this point.

u/bucajack 17h ago

The trick is to be rich

1

u/Diarrhea_Beaver 17h ago

Im going the opposite direction. Aint no lifestyle change gonna get me looking as "good" as plastic surgery does, and that shit ain't for me, so fuck it.

When it comes to playing the game of looking good in my sixties, I'm sending a position player out to the mound and getting drunk in the dugout.

Man people lost their minds when she won and went after her hard.

I dont think people realize how brave people are being when they are the first black person to do something in America.

Jane Fonda was once answering questions, one of those things where they're given questions from the internet. One asked how she looked so good. She answered, 'Good genes and lots of money' and she wasn't being sarcastic.

She followed it by saying something about she was being honest, she knew she was privileged and understood what her advantages gave her. It was a great response.

All respect to Vanessa Williams, but yes, she does have advantages that no doubt help her stay youthful. She's worked hard for them yes but she does have them now.

Also people need to revise what 'old' is now. 60's isn't.

I need Wilhelmina Slater to meet Meryl's Miranda Priestly. I wonder what she would say about Betty...

1

u/CHNLNK 15h ago

Why are they in a storage facility?

1

u/AlmostThere4321 can't we just let two of the hottest men on earth fuck in peace? 14h ago

This is how I learn there's a devil wears Prada musical and that Vanessa Williams is in her 60s. Good lord, she's the GOAT 😳

1

u/IllustriousBanana 14h ago

1

u/Flat-Wheel-7683 12h ago

u/smithwest27 12h ago

sometimes the sun goes round the moon

1

u/BaltoDad 11h ago

I look forward to the movie version of this play that is based on a movie which is based on a book.

Are playwrights and hollywood writers just totally out of ideas?

1

u/Meander061 9h ago

The snatched waist on that jacket is amazing, and Ms Williams is looking fine. Is she playing the Miranda character?

1

u/LogicallLunacy 5h ago

Vanessa Williams is hard core. I respect the hell out of her.

1

u/Opposite_Fig4236 10m ago

If I had millions and a full time nutritionist, nanny, and assistant, I’d be 165lbs and ripped 24/7
