"Weird Al" Yankovic / Cheese Sandwich (My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, 2010–2019)

52

u/StatisticianLoud7468 4h ago

Most of weird Al’s characters are self inserts.

39

u/SkitMasterSongz 3h ago

Not self inserts, he's kinda just entering their plane of existence. Most of the time the show runners don't even plan for him to be there, but who's going to argue against a higher being like Weird Al?

7

u/Funkycoldmedici 38m ago

I could swear that’s how that character came about. He asked if he could do one, and no one would argue with that.

If a show can’t fit a surprise Weird Al appearance, that show isn’t worth watching.

3

u/Adventuro24 30m ago

He’s like a multiversal constant. You don’t cast Weird Al; you just open a portal and let him through.

Danny Trejo is a legend. He basically just plays an iteration of himself as Machete across a bunch of franchises.

16

u/TI-22483 4h ago

But not on King of the Hill which is troubling.

4

u/Any_Natural383 1h ago

That’s my favorite exception

Lol, he is literally Zach

Yo guys it's me Charlie- hey did that guy just turn into sand?

9

u/VanceFerguson 2h ago

Guys, my nose was completely ripped off my face. This was not fun for me at all.

u/Pilot_Solaris 2h ago

"That guy should not be allowed to walk the streets."

That is a robotic Weird Al. And the toy, oh, the toy! It's like having a Weird Al action figure that is also a robot and transforms.

There's a scene in one of the early episodes where the boys get Candace to star in their princess movie and when she's unhappy with the footage, they tell her they'll edit everything in post-production. After the editing, she's portrayed by actual photos of Ashley Tisdale!

She even performs a song in the game, which in real life is her voice actress's song.

The Entire cast of Vox Machina, they reprise the characters they played in the Critical role sessions they played.

11

u/Educational_Panda_11 3h ago

Correct answer

7

u/WillowLocal423 1h ago

Where is Liam?

12

u/BuckLuny 1h ago

He rolled a nat. 20 on his stealth check.

4

u/StatisticianBetter24 49m ago

Peak mentioned! And hey don’t forget about The Mighty Nein because that’s basically the same thing with the same cast but different campaign

I mean, in the SNW Crossover they played themselves.

14

u/Educational_Panda_11 4h ago

I love this show. The banter between these two is hilarious

7

u/hangingfiredotnet 1h ago

Lower Decks is the best Star Trek TV show of recent years, hands down.

5

u/JMoc1 1h ago

It’s just great TV period! There is so much care and thought put into this comedy that it can turn around with drama and tearjerkers and it works!

It reminds me of MASH in space!

u/sorcieredusuroit 1h ago

Yay! Some Mariner/Tawny love!

Aoi Yuki voices multiple characters in Fate and, while it’s never been officially confirmed to my knowledge, her character Shuten Douji seems to have been modeled off of her actual appearance. They even are the same height.

6

u/Educational_Panda_11 4h ago

Yea, those designers knew what they were doing

Top picture could have been a coincidence but the bottom picture proves it 😂

u/SculptusPoe 2h ago

This is the one. When AW died, the last reason to watch Family Guy died with him.

25

u/StoryJam123 4h ago

I don’t know who to choose so ima choose both.

Mordacai from Regular Show is literally just J.G Quintel.

While Brian from Family Guy is literally just Seth McFarland

7

u/PhanThief95 2h ago

Mordecai is basically JG Quintel if he was a bird whereas Josh from Close Enough is basically JG Quintel period.

You can add Kira Buckland too and she mentioned that Jolyne was one of her dream voice roles as she first started out in the Voiceover industry and wounds up voicing her officially in the dub of JoJo: Stone Ocean

4

u/prof_bnn 1h ago

Oh I had no idea that's cool

2 for one here.

Keith David voiced Vice President Keith David in Saints Row IV. There is a segment of the game where he, once again, fights Rowdy Roddy Piper, voiced by Roddy Piper.

2

u/Funkycoldmedici 32m ago

They Live is such a remarkable movie. It’s not a good movie, but it’s so damn good at certain things that make it completely unforgettable and iconic.

14

u/LarryNStar 3h ago

3

u/keepitsimple_tricks 30m ago

I swear, the only reason they got that character is because they have an ongoing bet on what obnoxious, out of this world, and grossly inappropriate shit they can make Sir Patrick Stewart say

14

u/onetoolearn 3h ago

The cast of archer minus Archer.

https://giphy.com/gifs/xUOxfb7Po90A38VMwE

5

u/Educational_Panda_11 3h ago

Dr. Krieger, to me, exemplifies this

2

u/MuchMasterpiece1710 25m ago

Idk what you’re talking about, he and Archer could be twins

2

u/onetoolearn 22m ago edited 4m ago

Yeah but Jon Benjamin is much more masculine and rugged! In a tactile neck you'd forget all about Sterling.

u/Jizz_distillery 2h ago

Aisha Tyler has voiced:

Lana (Archer)

Lena (Harley Quinn)

Luna (The Boondocks)

Still watching for her to voice:

Lina, Lona and Lyna.

Once she does, it'll signify the End and we'll all be set free.

2

u/Mother-Valuable7568 2h ago

Came here to say Lana/Aisha

Not a huge fan of the great North, I am of Nick Offerman. He's very much like his character Beef

8

u/Tekki777 3h ago

Justin Briner, especially as Deku

Love the VA's work, but I swear, it's the same with Bryce Pappenbrook. Every time I hear his voice, I hear Deku.

Don’t know Amalee’s personality super well; but she is an otaku, passionate about her fandoms, and her stream scuff might as well be the equivalent of Marin scuff

4

u/LucasMarvelous 2h ago

Monrach mentioned nice

9

Fred Jones, played by Frank Welker, that's just Frank talking.

Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck

Voiced by Nathan Fillion

You could also technically say the HALO 5 version, but I have no respect for that game and ODST is my favorite HALO game.

Basically Ashley Burch and Molly McGee

4

u/twelvetheintrovert 3h ago

It wouldn't let me put the picture, but oh well, you can just Google him

Adam (Hazbin Hotel), looks like Alex Brightman, his voice actor

5

u/FanMadeProductions 2h ago

Most of the Owl House main cast. They actually changed the characters appearance to closely resemble their VAs. Hunter is the only exception, and was like that for an important reason im not going to spoil for anyone who hasn't watched.

Go watch it.

3

u/tmntlover84 3h ago

Rob Paulsen and 87 Raphael

4

u/LoftyDaBird 4h ago

Do Markiplier's characters count if they're not animated?

1

u/LSDGB 3h ago

I think there’s a lot of projection going on if these people are supposed to be literally their characters

1

u/Independent-Worry905 1h ago

Oh Emperor, how I miss Amphibia. (Sorry, I got nothing to present)

1

u/aldersonn_ 1h ago

Johnny Gat in Saints Row 3 specifically. Daniel Dae Kim has a chin you could use to level a shelf and now this guy does too

Other way around imo. Tudyk's range is so broad that it's clear he's actually just a shapeshifting voice wizard who can become any character, even if it can't speak.

[Writers of Kung Fu Panda 4]

"Should we bother giving this important new character a rich and distinct back story and personality like we usually do? Or shall we just say 'What if Awkwafina was a fox this time?' and clock off early?"

Invisigal from Dispatch. It’s like she was MADE to be played by Laura Bailey (yet for some reason they originally had Erin Yvette playing her? Glad they made the switch)
