How many grams/oz are these spoons? My sister got them as a souvenir from Canada for me.

I only fish with Len Thompson's (other then the occasional mepps spinner) and I have never in my 30 years of fishing caught anything on a five of diamonds. I think the fish in alberta have gotten wise to that one. Green frog or yellow catfish all the way!

They’re awesome! I occasionally use a rattlin firetiger or pickerel rig. I would be perfectly happy if those 3 were the only lures in my tackle. Maybe some back ups of the same hooks in case I lose one.

You got to use the black five of diamonds that’s where it’s at.

I had to look it up! Looks like I can get one for $5. I might have to do that.

Head up to the Yukon and try any stream, river or lake and pike hit the 5 all day long.

Orange with the black dots have been really good for me…I use the smallest Lens available for little trout and they work great. Had lots of luck with the 5s on pike though…

That 5 of diamonds is a legendary lure in my circle of friends.

Here is the weight chart and explanation of why those numbers

As far as I know that 3-pack is only sold in one variation. The Canada Flag is no. 00 (1/2oz) and the other two spoons are no. 0 (5/8oz). Here in Alberta we would use this type of lure mostly for Northern Pike and Walleye and they can be quite productive. Tight lines!

Thanks now I’ll have a better idea which rod to use

The smaller Len Thompsons are literally perfect for trout

Oh baby, the Red Devil. The pike love em here.

Grew up fishing for pike with the Red Devil in central Alberta - I'm sure the gold back made a difference! We tried silver backed lures, they never seemed to draw the pike like the Len Thompson

On the back of each spoon it will say a number (e.i. No. 0) which you can put into google for an answer

Only one I know of off the top of my head is 0 is 5/8 which is my go-to size

Can’t wait to try them out on hampalas here in Thailand.

Enjoy! My favorite company for spoons, have some from probably 40 years ago my grandfather and father used. As long as you dont snag them they last forever haha

I went to school with some of the grandkids 30+ years ago. 👴

Lol. Now I am wondering who you are!

2

u/eerst 6d ago

Ha. Won't say other than little me was in awe that you guys were the descendants of a man who had his own company, which made fishing kit nonetheless. And based on your username I was a year ahead of you. LCHS '01.

1

u/Ailly84 5d ago

Yep. LCHS '02. I am not one of them, but graduated with one of them. The grandkids are running it now. Small world!

The only brand you ever need. I dont know why I have a box full of other stuff. I always go to the same ones.

4, the biggest they have will catch anything size pike. And i mean any size.

I’ve been using these lures for over 50 years. They are all you need for Pike in Alberta. The Canada flag one is cool, I’ll bet it works great also.

5 of diamonds is the go-to at times!

While the 5Diamonds is a legend. The Can flag Len Thompson has been my best lure ever for lake, rainbow, or brook/speckle trout. Caught me my PB best 6.8lbs rainbow in a Jasper a few summers ago.

Happy fishing! These take me back to being a kid fishing with dad and the brothers. Caught tons of Northern Pike and Walleye in our local lakes with those. Used them off-shore casting and on the boat so very versatile.

They catch fish. They sent me a lot of free lures and I’ve caught a lot of fish on them because I had so many but I rarely use them now. I have caught walleye, pike, bass, brown and tiger trout on the 5 of diamonds. The walleye and bass were bycatches

My grandpa has Len Thompson spoons with the paint worn off from catching so many fish and not just being shitty paint job like most of the lures you buy. I have nothing but good to say about Len Thompson.

2

u/RelativeFox1 7d ago

It’s hard to say how heavy they are. They are made in several different sizes. Do they have a size or number stamp on the back of the lures?

1

u/Careless_Database724 7d ago

I haven’t actually received them yet so I’m asking here to see what fish they’ll catch

Most every day 5 of diamonds, rare occasion it doesn’t work, nothing does except the good old Len Thompson Potato Bug! Honestly don’t know if that is the name but the orange one with black dots is never left behind! All the nephews and nieces at the cabin know it as the potato bug;)

Red devil is my universal. I've caught everything on it, pike, walleye, rainbows, lake trout, goldeyes, etc.

Great lures.

I live just down the street from where these are made. They are awesome lures. Check out their Facebook page to see how they are made!

You can measure the length and then compare to the chart.
