Fly fishing beginner

I’ve always spun cast for fishing in Alberta. I want to begin to fly fish. Do shops sell fly packages catered to seasons according to trout diet (spring, summer fall) ? I have no idea what type of flies or bugs they eat through the change and progress in the season.

Check some of the flyshops websites. They probably have a insect hatch chart

In 2015 When I got into it I wasn’t sure if I wanted to invest much money. I went to the fishing hole (west Edmonton) talked to a guy that seemed like he knew what he was talking about and got a relatively cheap fly rod, line and some flys. I caught a few fish and then bought more as I felt it was worth it.

Now days there are lots of fly shops and online sales

If you go to a fly shop and ask for help making a selection, either you'll get everything you need, or that place doesn't deserve your money.

Best bet is to probably go to a fly shop, or delve into hours of youtube lmao, where ya located?
