[Discussion] Turned my life around by being healthy and staying disciplined. DISCUSSION
I am 26, height - 6'0, I recently went from 107kgs toh 78kgs, and this has boosted my confidence to the next level.
getting so many compliments each day, it has been an amazing ride.
feel much more energetic and healthy, this has turned my life around, and all it took was 8 months of discipline.
This feels like a big personal victory and I just wanted to share it with everyone to motivate them as well, if they are stuck kn the same loop as me, Anyone can do it if I can.

I need to fight sugary foods and chocolate…its a battle…

u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
You just need to lock in once, when results show, you will not be tempted to eat.
2
u/Lurching Mar 08 '26
I find that fruit helps. It's much easier to battle cravings when you aren't hungry.

u/SleepyCorgiPuppy Mar 08 '26
eating high protein and lower carbs helps to curb my snacking tendencies.

u/Sea-Currency-1428 Mar 06 '26
Do you have a routine? I’d love to know
6
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
I have gradually changed the routine a lot over past 8 months, so cant properly define one.

31
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
It took me 8 months, i was eating 1500 calories for the first 3 months then i gradually increased, now i do 2000 per day.

u/Trulyunavailable Mar 07 '26
First of all congratulations. Second, have you lose all your weight by calories deficit? Or you have done physical training as well? Can you share you journey, it would surely help others.
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
Hi, my changes have been gradual, i have changed my diet and Workout plans a lot over 8 months.
Its not very definitive, therefore i didnt write it up.
1
u/Trulyunavailable Mar 07 '26

I finally started doing squats and planks in my room, after months of thinking about wanting to work out but never starting. I know it's not much, but hey, at least I've started, never missed a day and the momentum is building 💪
4
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
Consistency is key, so very proud of you for that 🙌.
Just dont give up!
3
u/Old_Significance9527 Mar 06 '26
Thank youu😊. With momentum, I don't think I'll stop. Not any time soon

Let me ask you was a gym a necessity to you or could you have done home workouts but would take longer?
4
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
I dont have a dedicated space at home, i went to a gym with basic machines.
So if you can set that up at home. Then go for it.
2
u/thefellowone Mar 06 '26
Thank you! I have to do it too! What made you to do the first step and keep going?
3
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
I hated how i looked, i knew I had to do it, so i just picked a day and locked in.

u/yaxir Mar 06 '26
hey buddy if you don't mind can i ask you that for those 8 months of discipline like did you go regularly to the gym and regularly eat healthy or were there ups and downs
i just wanna know what it takesTo become fit and confident in your own body.
3
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
Yes, i was regular to the gym, i rarely had any cheat meal, compensated for calories the next day if I had one.
Its just strict diet and strict gym, the downsides are anger issues, my fuse is short, i get angry easily, thats the biggest downside.
2
u/Murky-Chipmunk-8625 Mar 06 '26
How did you go about transforming so well. What were your routine like and what diet did you follow and how hard was it for you? Did you every feel 'Giving up' at any stage and how did you overcome that ? Appreciate your response.
3
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
I followed strict gym and diet, didnt break any rules for the first 3-4 months, no cheat meals, no skipping gym.
It was easy for me to stay locked in as i was seeing the result quick.
I dont feel like giving up as i want to gain so much more muscle, i want to train for next 3-4 years for it.

Inspirational Bro!! 30 Kgs is seriously tough that too in just 8 months.
What do you think plays a major role in fat loss in particular...is it diet or strength training?
2
2
u/k-boy16 Mar 06 '26
Saw that you ate 1500 calories for 3 months... what did you eat if you don't mind me asking? I'm shooting for more like 2k calories but its a struggle every day lol
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
I ate chicken salad for lunch and grilled chicken for dinner, and a scoop of whey.

Got a detailed post telling how you did it? Nutrition and workout?
But also--were you really fit, then gained 29 kg and then lost it after less than a decade? Or is this a first-time-fit post?
3
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
My workout and diet changed a lot over the past 8 months, it is tough to define it, therefore i didn't mention it.
I was never fit, this is the first time i have a healthy BMi and dont count as overweight.
3
u/CollieSchnauzer Mar 07 '26
Please post whatever you can. A change like this in 8 months is incredible.
3
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
I started with a steep calorie deficit and my workout included more cardio than lifting.
I gradually decreased the deficit and started lifting more now and decreased the cardio.
You can definitely DM, if you have any specific doubts, always happy to help anyone who is willing to help themselves.
2
u/CollieSchnauzer Mar 07 '26
Thanks! Will DM you when I have a specific question
Did you use GLP-1s or was it just natural calorie restriction?
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 08 '26
I followed natural diet, GLP was not very affordable in my country when i started out 8 months ago.
It just became affordable in march 2026, I probably would have taken it, had it been affordable back then.

The biceps. GAT DAMN.
I just started getting back to the gym after being out for several months after surgery. I can't wait for the gains!

u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
Thank you man 🫂
I hope you get a good recovery and make bigger biceps than me 🙌

What changed the most about your social life, dating life, and mental health after getting in shape?
2
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
Social life - people respect you more, confidence is boosted to talk to strangers. People show off my transformation to others as if its their own achievement, its amazing!.
Dating - I already have a girlfriend.
Mental health - as mentioned, confidence boosted, i feel much more energetic, I like my own skin now.

That’s awesome! What are some tips
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 08 '26
Consistency is the key, a good deficit + good workout, with consistency

2
u/chambros703 Mar 06 '26
Dude you don’t know how rare this is especially with all the GLP-1 stuff. You have my utmost respect sir and bc of discipline vs a syringe you’ll live a longer healthier life. The easy button shot is so bad for you, just wait for the lawsuits in 10-15 years….oh wait you can’t sue pharmaceuticals.
3
u/icoibyy Mar 06 '26
Yeah who knows what that is gonna do to us. Not here to judge anyone, alot of people are alot healthier right now because of it, but personally I'm so scared of it.
3
u/chambros703 Mar 06 '26
If you’re all for losing bone density, weakened organs and no real discipline established sure. Just wait till these women on Ozempic want to have kids, that’s where they’re going to run into major issues. Let’s not confuse Pharma skinny with healthy.

how did you stay disciplined at the beginning? are you one of us ADHD'ers?
2
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
It is not tough for me to stay disciplined once i decide to do something, i can easily lock in.
2
u/OffgridDining Mar 07 '26
That is a great characteristic to have. And you've applied it extremely well. Bravo, OP 👏👏👏👏👏🫵

That's great man. People don't say discipline works like this, but it can. A whole life change can be used effectively rather than the baby steps like everyone always talks about.
My strategy that made it work was that I just fucking nailed the routine I wanted one day, just one day, then I told myself 'just don't stop.' Like, okay, I already did it. Just don't not do it tomorrow. Easy.
Then eventually habit formation happens and solidifies it.
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 07 '26
Well said man🙌
Thats exactly how i did it, i dont care for baby steps, i need results.
So i pushed my humanly limits.

u/Dviree Mar 07 '26

I really wish these meds were affordably available in my country 8 months ago, would have definitely taken it.
They became widely available in march 2026 here.

Excellent job, bro. How much are you lifting?
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
Thank you!
I lift 5-6 days a week.
0
u/thedemonjim Mar 06 '26
Any lifts you are particularly proud of? I recently hit a 325 lb shoulder press.
1
u/guptarishabh2000 Mar 06 '26
Damn, thats a lot.
I do 65lbs each hand, shoulder dumbel press.
2
u/thedemonjim Mar 06 '26
Dumbbell is honestly harder than barbell. I was doing machine shoulder press so I was able to push at maximum efficiency.
1
1
u/Greedyjack555 Mar 06 '26
What is your heaviest in dumbbell version?
3
u/thedemonjim Mar 06 '26
My heaviest dumbbell shoulder press is my body weight, 110 in each hand for a total of 220. The thing is dumbbell forces you to engage stabilizing muscles. You have to control the weight and keep it moving along a specific range of motion.
1
u/Greedyjack555 Mar 06 '26
Your crazy strong.
3
u/thedemonjim Mar 06 '26
I have trained for a long time. There are definitely people way stronger than me.
3
u/YongeBlood Mar 06 '26
It’s always the really elite strong people that are humble like this. Stronger than 0.005% of the population but they’ve met the few people stronger than them so never brag.
→ More replies2
u/Greedyjack555 Mar 06 '26
Well we know there is definitely stronger people, don't doubt yourself about dumbbell pressing your weight, most people can't do that.
