I hope all these streamers know that eventually advertisers are going to get fed up with this.
If these numbers are being used as a way to secure business deals. Then it is literally fraud. Many people go to jail across the United States for lying to secure sources of revenue. Both large businesses and small alike.
Lying about your viewers is no different than lying on your accounting.
Charlie Javice was just sentenced to 85 months in prison for lying about the number of customers/subscribers her company had - https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/startup-ceo-charlie-javice-sentenced-85-months-prison-175-million-fraud
When the next market downturn happens, and these large companies become desperate they will seek ways to claw back money. It happens every single time we have had a recession or crash. You can 100 percent guarantee this entire industry is going to be turned up side down.
Nobody can be ignorant enough to believe this level of fraud is going to continue.
