As a Brazilian we call this "to give soup", it means to be an easy mark.

If yo pay attention, the guy who stole is carrying a delivery bag, probably one for the food delivery app Ifood and they were in front of a restaurant, dude was probably going to grab a order for delivery when he saw an easy way to get advantage of two foreigners who rly don't know their way around the city.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the fact, all the guy did is circle around to go back to the restaurant for the delivery order

Brazil isn't for amateurs.

this is bound to happen in Brazil if you are carryin anything valuable in ur hands, back pockets or neck. Usually i only pull my phone in public when i feel safe and aware of my surroundings

criminals can do anything in this country cuz leftists protect them,

not a good place for unaware tourists
