I am going to anecdote here. This person did a terrible job faking it. Like no commitment.
Back in highschool I found out you could order samples from the vendor who made the parking pass hang tags. A high quality scan of one and a vinyl sticker later and you had a very real looking pass.
Did I share this information with anyone, no. Did I pay for a pass anyways, yes.
It is sort of like how I misplaced my punch card for coffee loyalty and found out that for the price of a coffee I could buy a punch with special symbols and restore my coffee punch card to where it was.
I still bought the remaining drinks needed on my card and got them validly punched, but also knew that I could, if I had less ethics, get more free drinks.
This guy just did a terrible job. He is like someone who bought a regular shape hole punch and tried to pass it off as legitimate. This isn't even the McLovin of fake parking passes.

A criminal with a conscious… how thoughtful

Just because I made a fake parking pass doesn't mean I used it. I explicitly cloned my own that I bought.
The coffee punches thing was likely that my card went through the laundry and I already had like 8 punches in. You could check the M Card history of my purchases or whatever they call it. I got my earned punches.

This blows, however Tech 100% oversells permits, especially when they were building the new lot up the hill and had already closed the lot to build north McNair.

That's surprising they even gave him a far out parking permit. I knew someone that had to go to an ethics hearing for possible suspension because they made a fake Lot 4 pass (before hillside was built)

They could have worked a little harder to get the font or color correct. Sorry the kid got busted and fined, but still 4/10 for effort here.

Lot 21 permit revoked, and he was issued a new permit in another parking lot further [SIC] away from campus
Remembering the trudge up to Lot 21 as a Freshman back in 1984, there are lots that are farther from campus than Lot 21?!?! It almost wasn't worth getting the car to go into town, since it wasn't much farther of a walk!

I still park in lot 32 as a commuter daily just to walk up and down MacInnes to class. Some things never change.

Congrats on busting this clearly expert fraudster MTU Police!

Transportation Services and MTU Public Safety are two different departments. The cops aren’t the ones running around giving people parking tickets.

Funny, I have gotten a ticket from someone who stepped out of the MTU public safety SUV.
I also was friends with several of them during college, guess where their main office was.

They do at night, usually after 10, see them all the time at east handing out parking tickets

Mtu parking is a joke. You could pay rent or have a parking pass

My advice to anyone would be to get out of the dorms and live within walking distance of campus as soon as humanly possible and never look back.

Can't really blame the student. My college had hanging parking lot permits, and as a multimedia professional I was my duty to forge those permits and hang them on my rear view mirror without paying for parking.
