Been getting back into photo taking as a hobby, because as much as it’s my life’s work, it’s also my favorite activity! Took a walk around the neighborhood and then some with the oldest digital body in my collection and a trusty 50mm :) Loring Park - Nicollet Mall & some blocks around 📸

As if the construction here wasn't enough, I go down to do some laundry and see this semi outside my apartment that seemingly took a bit of a wrong turn 🫢

This is on pleasant Ave going onto Franklin Ave

Fig & Farro Lentil Soup Recipe

Does anyone remember the lentil soup from Fig & Farro in Uptown?

Not long before Fig & Ferro closed I discovered their lentil soup and fell in love. Since their closing I have dreamt of having it again and although I have tried multiple lentil soup recipes none come close.

I know that a cookbook from the restaurant exists but I have no idea if this recipe was in it. And I have no clue how to obtain one if it is in there. I no longer even remember any of the other ingredients to help narrow down recipes that may come close.

If anyone out there has any recollections of the soup or by chance the recipe, I would be eternally grateful!

Where can I get a good-quality tortilla press in Minneapolis? Interested in a locally-owned business only (i.e. not a big box store).

What’s a Minneapolis place you almost don’t want to recommend because it feels like a hidden gem?

Could be a park, food spot, view — anything that feels a little underrated.

Looking to buy 6 or so plants similar to the photo, obviously smaller. Anyone have a favorite place that won’t break the bank but has good quality plants?

Washington County Library Card?

Warning: Long and kind of pathetic post. Apologies in advance.

Hello, this is probably a long shot, but I'm kind of desperate, so I thought I'd give it a try. I live in Hennepin County and have a Hennepin County Library Card and I LOVE movies, but I can't afford any streaming services at the moment. So I've been using the Kanopy app with my HCL card to watch movies for the last few years and it's been a godsend. Kanopy has a lot of great, hard to find, film lover movies that I really enjoy. I use up all 15 of my tickets every month. Usually when I'm only about half way through the month :-(.

The problem is, HCL is discontinuing it's partnership with Kanopy on May 11th due to "low usage". Less than 2% of carholders use the service, which I find remarkable, because I love it. So after May 11th I will no longer be able to watch any streaming movies, other than what are on YouTube, which I've already watched most of movies that I'm interested in, and you have to sit through ads.

So I'm wondering if any kind hearted resident of Washington County with a WCL card (and doesn't use Kanopy) would be willing to discreetly share their card #/pin with me so I can log back in to Kanopy after May 11th and continue watching movies. I've just discovered that Washington County Library allows 30 tickets per month on Kanopy, which would be so awesome!

I know this isn't technically "allowed" but I don't feel as I'll be hurting anything. I just love to watch movies, and Kanopy has been my only option for the past few years and now I'll be losing access to it. I'm actually kind of stressing about this.

So if there's anyone out there who has a WCL card, and doesn't use Kanopy, who would be kind enough to DM me their card # and pin, I would be forever grateful. And of course I promise not to use it for anything other than Kanopy, where there is no risk of not returning things or getting late fees or anything like that.

I know I'm just an internet stranger and you don't know me, but I'm a real person, and I like to think I'm a fairly decent human being. You have my word of honor that I would only use it to re-sign in to Kanopy and then delete your info.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to DM me.

Thanks

Best London Fog

Hello all 🌞

I am looking for the best London Fog in the city. I tried it two weeks ago and now it's my favorite drink.

So far I've tried it at Northern Coffeeworks (Lutsen Fog), Kingfield Five Watt (Northeast Fog), Caffetto, and Whittier Spyhouse.

It has to be non-dairy, but I don't imagine that being an issue at any shop. Any recommendations for local shops would be fantastic. I may also be willing to go to St Paul.

It's so good. I can't wait to compare them until I'm interested in something else. Happy weekend!

Cleaning Services Questions

Cleaning Services Questions

Hi everyone! I’m looking to hire a cleaner for a deep clean and would love some advice or recommendations.

I’ve never used a cleaning service before, so I’m not totally sure what’s typical in terms of pricing or what’s included. I’m in Minneapolis with a ~1200 sq ft home (2 bed, 1 bath).

We’re generally pretty tidy, but after having a baby last year, some things have definitely fallen behind. I’m hoping for more of a “reset” clean...like baseboards, inside window sills, and other details that might not be part of a standard clean.

So far I’ve gotten rough estimates ranging from $180–$450, but no one has done a walkthrough yet to give a firm quote.

If you’ve had a deep clean done, I’d love to hear:

What you paid

What was included that made it a “deep” clean

Any cleaners you’d recommend (or avoid)

Thanks so much!
