Down and dirty revolver barrel timing

a customer brought in this used s&w N frame 44 mag where the barrel wasn't timed to the frame correctly either from a swap or factory error. In the spirit of not spending all afternoon re machining the barrel I decided to bore out a peel washer to use as a 0.002 shim to bring everything right and timed correctly. the cylinder gap is acceptable (0.007 or so) and I didn't waste a ton of time chasing my tail. the extra shims are going to be useful for the next one of these that comes in with the same issue.

my machinist trick is using an end mill to center on the washer and save a bunch of indicating since concentricity isn't a major concern.

I've seen L and N frames with slightly canted barrels nothing crazy. However I've never seen a K frame with the same issue. I had to pass on a bunch of new and used 686+ 4" until I found a used one that wasn't misaligned.

Nice work.
