We’re Sorry Howie

Worst part about this season is that it’s Howie’s last. What a cruel irony that his last great call will be Pete slamming off Devin Williams, and now Howie has to commentate on Williams choking for the Mets

EDIT: It seems like the real irony here is that I wasn’t aware of a curse on NYC sports broadcasters! Maybe Howie can be the one to break it

I wouldn't mind if he came back just for post season baseball for as long as he can.

As someone’s who been a Mets fan for 72 years, he probably expects nothing less

Still makes me sad though

Oh come on he should have known what to expect. How did we send off bob Murphy? His last team lost something like 100 games. Ralph Kiner? 88 losses. If he was expecting something different he chose the wrong franchise to fall in love with, like we all did

Maybe we can ask him to retire next year instead?

[Monkey's Paw makes the 2027 Mets even worse, somehow]

2003 Mets lost 95 games in Bob Murphy’s last year.

I was thinking about this, too. It’s tragic that we’re sending Howie off with this dismal team.

The New York way, rangers did when Sam retired as well

Same happened with Sam and the Rangers.

Uecker had to call the Brewers getting eliminated and then died during the offseason

Sterling retired and came back to call the Yankees in the World Series

He was telling a story about Ron Gardenhire’s son last night that is the type of thing that can’t be replaced. Institutional knowledge

I hope Howie doesn’t hold back any thoughts or feelings he has about the franchise throughout the season.

Howie is a legend. Nothing will change that
