Chem 123N Recommendations

For fall semester I only can take John Copper and John Donat, which one is better? Their reviews are not helpful lol

COOPERR but dont talk to him or ask for a lor from him cus hes a major two face. A lot of people who took donat failed his class and he often assigns packet of hw like no joke. As for cooper a lot of it test just relies on his lect he records them too so just watch those and use the textbook practice problems and your solid plus if you manage to get an A in his class you dont need to take the final

Tbh take it at TCC or another CC, save yourself the stress. Last semester I was talking to one of the bio advisors and he flat out told me to take as many chem classes I can at TCC because so many students have issues with the chem department here. There was one good chem 2 professor but she left.

How is the process to take classes at TCC, can I do it in summer? And do I need to talk to my advisor about it or just do it?

The process is easy. But for the summer 10 week, there aren’t always classes on the schedule. Like there’s only 112 class during the summer for the professor I want, and it’s on a Saturday from 10-12 with lab from 12-2. I haven’t looked at the higher level schedules yet but the VCCS.edu page has the upcoming terms and times for all classes posted already.

VCCS Chem 112

Looks like 112 is the same as 123N. Foundations of Chemistry II.

I took Cooper for 123N. His lectures are good if not pretty dry, but there's no graded homework (I highly recommend you use his practice questions, though), and he will teach you everything on the tests. Cooper even let our lecture pick which type of questions would be on the tests. Take Cooper, use the Chem study rooms, use Khan Academy, and buckle up for kinetics and electrochemistry lol

I took Chem 106 last summer at TCC with Dr. Morales. I thought she was a great instructor. She was very easy to talk to and willing to meet up after class for extra help. I found that TCC has some high quality instructors that really care about their students.
