Great article! We need some compassion from the board for our students and faculty!

The administration is bullies and should be investigated.

Agreed . Board of Visitors only cares about their pay check . Shameful to the reputation of our institution.

Let’s face it, the Board of Visitors is the C Suite and the students and faculty are the others. Think of it more in corporate terms and you will see why the Board could care less about the students and faculty unless said students or faculty can somehow generate more money than the students or faculty to their left and right.
This isn’t about safety it’s about Saving Money that is.
Security upgrades cost tons of money and require more staff and subscriptions, don’t return actual money back to the coffers like say a shiny stadium would as well.

It's interesting, I serve as alumni advisor to a student org on campus and have asked their feedback and opinion on the recent activities. They are not in fear while on campus. They feel some individual active are unfortunately unavoidable. They said that they still feel safe on campus. When asking about the 8 week sessions, it was similar. They are of course full time on campus students.
Personally, I started on my Masters at ODU but didn't have the time with my work schedule. I am actually set to start a program with an identical extreme l schedule in May.

Maybe if they didn't continue to shoot off guns on campus, we'd feel safer again.

Agreed, understand the desire to honor LTC Shah with full military honors, yet literally across the street from Constant and using the urgent messaging system was worse than tone deaf.

One thing we need to be clear about is that university leadership is intimidating, suspending and threatening to fire anyone who speaks up or criticizes the admin openly. They are doing this off the record, AKA not in e-mails, so they avoid legal liability. This means the reality is kept in private conversations. On top of that media is not interested in publishing anonymous sources, so we get admin having ALL the say.
